Love Island pulled from time slot with hours to go in ITV schedule shake-up

ITV bosses have pulled Love Island from its usual 9pm timeslot with just hours to go in a huge scheduling shake-up.

The ITV2 reality dating titan is back on our screens once again as the show enters its eleventh series, with a slew of sexy singletons looking to find love. As couples form and break off, things are getting steamy as the show heads towards the midway point of the season.

Dedicated fans of the show are used to eagerly sitting down to watch the latest instalment of the shenanigans in the Majorca villa at 9pm every Sunday to Friday. However, Tuesday night’s episode (June 25) of the show has seen it been pulled from its regular time slot.

This is due to the fact the Euro 2024 tournament is continuing in Germany, with the final group matches taking place over the next couple of days. England’s squad is now set to take on Slovenia in the final group match for the team, with coverage for the match kicking off at 6:45pm.

As a result, Love Island fans – keen to see what the Islanders are up to – will have to wait longer in order to see their favourite singletons get up to no good. Bosses decided to push the show back one hour, meaning that the show will be on at 10pm.

This is not the only show that has been impacted by the football matches taking place. Soap fans have been told that Emmerdale, a staple of the ITV schedule night after night, will not air on Tuesday, whilst on the BBC, EastEnders episodes are now working one day later than usual.

As well as this, BBC magazine show The One Show will shave 10 minutes off its regular duration in order to accommodate the fixtures. To make matters worse, the instalment will see the programme move to BBC Two for the evening.

Love Island viewers have been subject to twist after twist this season as the villa has been rocked by several bombshells. The first of these came on Day 1 when TOWIE legend Joey Essex joined the show as a contestant, before stealing Sam Taylor’s couple partner and thus kicking him out of the villa.

But things did not stay quiet for Joey as just days after he entered the villa, his former lover Grace Jackson walked in to the competition, stoking tensions between him and then-partner Samantha. However, fans believe she was “planted” into the show, as both he and Grace had been together in November when the application process for Love Island kicked off.

This idea was furthered after he and Grace were saved from being given the boot from the villa in double axing that nobody saw coming. Eagle-eyed fans picked up on how Joey, 33, and Grace, 25, had not come up during discussions on who to dump from the Island, leading to speculation that they were put in the villa to go all the way to the final.

Love Island is available to stream on ITVX.
