Ed Sheeran has called for protection for ginger people, saying it is wrong that they are the last group who you can still ridicule.
The 33-year-old singer is one of the world’s most famous red heads but he is not immune to being mocked for his flame coloured locks. Ed has complained that in a world of woke and political correctness it is wrong that people born with ginger hair are still seen as fair game to make jokes about when other gags are considered racist, sexist and sizeist.
Speaking on the This Past Weekend podcast, he said: “It’s interesting the ginger thing because it is the last bastion of things that you can make fun of.

“Someone on a TV show put a picture of a ginger cat up and went, ‘This cat kind of looks like you.’
“In my head I was like, ‘If there was someone fat on this couch and you put up a picture of fat cat that would be really offensive.’ So where does the line start?”
Ed was also bullied at school for his bright orange hair but he thinks that those formative years helped him develop a personality and a good sense of humour.
He said: “I think the amount of fun that is made out of you as a kid makes for a good personality. I feel like I have more fun than the pretty kids that I grew up with.”
