America’s Got Talent star, 17, found dead under bridge just weeks after success on show

An America’s Got Talent star has tragically died at the age of 17.

Teenager Emily Gold has been found dead under a bridge just weeks after her success on the hit talent show. She was a member of the Los Osos High School’s dance team that reached the competition’s quarter-finals after wowing the judges.

She was reportedly discovered dead on the eastbound 210 Highway in Rancho Cucamonga in California just before midnight on Friday (September 13). According to the California Highway Patrol, she had been hit by multiple vehicles.

The San Bernardino Coroner’s Office is handling Emily’s death as a suicide, Daily Mail reported. Los Osos High School paid tribute to Emily on Saturday in a statement.

“Emily was on both our Varsity Dance Team and Varsity cheer squad, our thoughts and prayers are with the family as they grieve,” said the school’s Principal, Eric Cypher. “Please keep Emily and her loved ones and friends in your thoughts and prayers,” reports the Mirror US.

Emotional tributes poured in for the beloved student

A GoFundMe campaign dedicated to Emily’s memory has been set up following her death, and it’s already halfway to reaching its $50,000 goal. Tributes have also flooded in for Emily from her fellow students.

One wrote on Facebook wrote: “Let it be known that she now rests easy although there were many that loved Emily Gold and even looked up to her. Emily Gold, thank you for all that you have done in this world. You have done more than enough. Claws up to you Emily. Claws up.”

A fellow dancer said Emily would be “missed beyond words”. They wrote: “You brought me the most beautiful form of love I could ask for. My best friend, my forever dance sister,”.

Emily’s dance team appeared on AGT in May. Their performance got a standing ovation from none other than the notoriously critical judge Simon Cowell.

He said: “It was absolutely brilliant,” before continuing: “What I loved about this was first of all the energy. I think what I just saw is everything a great school should be doing, which is encouraging talent and friendship.”

He added: “It reminded me of seeing the High School Musical movie and thinking ‘every kid should go to a school like that.'”
