Jesy Nelson fans jibe ‘this aged well’ as Diddy asks to ‘party’ with her in music video

Jesy Nelson fans have made some jibes about the singer’s tribute to P Diddy.

In 2022, the former Little Mix star released Boyz which was her first solo single after leaving the group in December 2020. Jesy used Diddy’s original song and video as the inspiration behind her track.

Diddy even appeared in the music video himself and the release of her song was delayed in order for him to make a cameo in the video. However, after his recent arrest, fans are claiming the idea did not “age well”.

Fans have been writing underneath the video on YouTube, with one saying: “Might be time to edit P Diddy out of the video I thought they would delete Diddy’s cameo lol.”

A second added: “This song did not age well.” While a third penned: “This vid hurts EVEN more from what recently happened…” Others added: “This vid did not age well LMFAOOO” and “NA THIS IS CRAZY WATCHING BACK WITH EVERYTHING COMING OUT.”

This comes after Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, 54, was hit with trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution charges. Combs denies any wrongdoing and is set to fight the charges at a trial. Since then, a judge denied Combs $50m bail so he will be remanded in custody until his court date.

Combs charges allege he “abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct.”

US Magistrate Judge Robyn F. Tarnofsky denied his bail as he had “very significant concerns” about his reported substance abuse and “what appears to be anger issues.”

Jesy received backlash at the time of the video for ‘blackfishing after fans accused her of trying to appear racially ambiguous. One wrote online: “Jesy Nelson’s solo debut #Boyz is cute and the video was a fun 00s throwback. But it’s 4 minutes of blatant cultural appropriation: – The Blackfishing – Lowriders and bikes – Gold teeth – The Blackfishing – The aesthetic – The hair – The lollipops – THE BLACKFISHING.”

Another added: “sorry but I can’t stand Jesy nelson why is she getting away with branding herself with this whole “hood” blackfishing aesthetic when she’s 100% white and from ROMFORD ??????”

The singer defended herself at the time, by commenting to Vulture: “I’m very aware that I’m a white British woman; I’ve never said that I wasn’t. But I mean, like, I love Black culture. I love Black music. That’s all I know; it’s what I grew up on.”

“I take all those comments made seriously. I would never intentionally do anything to make myself look racially ambiguous, so that’s why I was initially shocked that the term was directed at me.”
