Emmerdale issue Debbie Dingle update as Moira delivers sad news after family death

Emmerdale has delivered the news on Debbie Dingle after viewers were hoping she’d rock up back in the village for Zak Dingle’s (Steve Halliwell) heart-wrenching send-off.

The iconic Dingle clan are in bits as they prepare to bid farewell to their beloved Zak, who passed away unexpectedly while up in Scotland.

Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) popped to see his daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) and his father Zak before heading back home and not long after he got back to the village, Moira (Natalie Robb), his other half, received a gut-wrenching call from Debbie explaining that Zak’s suddenly died in heartbreaking scenes.

It was down to Cain to break the grim news of the old man’s demise to the family. Since Debbie was the one to spread the sad news about grandad’s passing, Emmerdale fans were hoping she’d make an appearance for Zak’s final farwell.

However, in the episode hitting the screens on Wednesday (October 16), available early on ITVX but also showing at the usual time slot on ITV1 at 7.30 pm, Moira put an end on those rumours when she dished out an update on her step-daughter.

Honouring Zak’s last requests, Cain and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) headed to Scotland to fetch his remains and bring him back to the village for a burial with his kin.

Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) quizzed his mother, asking: “Debbie not coming back for the funeral? “, reports Leeds Live. Moira revealed, “She’s told Cain that she can’t face it. She got so close to Zak while he was living there, she wants to remember him in her own way.”

Additionally, Moira noted the impact on Cain: “It’s hit her hard. Only now, Cain’s got to sort everything out, like he’s not got enough on his plate.”

It’s been a long stint for Debbie who graced our screens first on Christmas Eve in 2002. But after stepping away back in 2019, Charley Webb made a temporary comeback as Debbie, with a guest appearance stretching from late 2020 into early 2021.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
