5 fresh revelations after Liam Payne’s death – ‘kicked out’ of hotel to tragic injuries

Liam Payne’s death has left devastated fans trying to piece together what happened.

The One Direction singer died on Wednesday (October 16) aged 31, after falling from the third floor of a building in Buenos Aires. He had been spending time with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in the city, where they saw his old bandmate Niall Horan in concert.

Liam’s death was confirmed on Wednesday night, with a local ambulance manager saying in a statement: “At 17.04 through the 911 integrated public safety system, we were alerted of a person who was in an internal courtyard of the management of a south house hotel. At 17.11 a SAME team arrived and verified the death of this man and later we found out that he was a singer in a musical group. Unfortunately, he had injuries that were incompatible with life, as a result of his fall, so we had to confirm his death, there was no possibility of resuscitation.”

‘Asked to leave hotel’

Liam died after falling from the third floor of Buenos Aires’ CasaSur Palmero Hotel, where he was a guest. But according to The Express it has been reported that he was at another hotel before that.

Unconfirmed reports in Argentina claim that the Strip That Down singer was asked to leave a hotel on October 13. Some outlets have said that Liam had been at one of Buenos Aires’ most prestigious hotels before being asked to leave over his behaviour.

Liam’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy headed back to the US from Argentina in the days before the star died, telling fans she hated “staying in one place for too long” and wanted to get home.

She told fans in a TikTok before Liam’s death: “I was so ready to leave, honestly, love South America but I hate staying in one place for too long. We were supposed to be there for like, five days. Turned into two weeks and I was just like, ‘I need to go home’.”

Kate shared details of her flight, including what she had to eat and the fact that she was, fittingly, in seat 1D. She also told fans that she had taken a neck pillow because although she usually used a Squishmallow (cuddly toy) she “gave it to Liam”.

“I was so happy to be home,” she said after she landed, adding that it was “just so relieving”.

Police to investigate drug dealer

No official toxicology reports have been released but there has been speculation about whether the star was under the influence.

Local media reports have suggested that there had been reports of an “aggressive” man who was possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol prior to Liam’s death. And gossip site TMZ said it was told the singer had been acting “erratic” in the hotel lobby. A hotel employee had also called 911, saying a guest was “off his head on drugs and alcohol”.

Photos of a hotel room alleged to have been Liam’s have since appeared on social media. The snaps seem to show drug paraphernalia as well as a TV with a smashed screen, and news outlets in Argentina have reported that if illegal substances are found, police will investigate who may have supplied them.

Cause of death

There is no official cause of death yet but Alberto Crescenti, who is the Buenos Aires emergency services chief, has been widely quoted as saying that the star fractured his skull.

“Our role was to head there quickly, give medical attention, and try to resuscitate him, but his injuries were incompatible with life,” he said. “Based on what the team saw, there was apparently a cranial fracture and extremely serious injuries that led to his immediate death.”

Eerie prediction

Liam’s ex Maya Henry

Liam’s ex Maya Henry has claimed he told her he was “going to die” after they broke up. The model made the comment on The Internet Is Dead podcast, as she claimed that the singer would try and get her attention.

She claimed he “would always play with death and be like, ‘Well, I’m going to die. I’m not doing well’.”
