Peter Kay makes savage ‘Lisa Riley’ dig at new show despite ‘bullying’ claims

Peter Kay was said to have joked about the “Lisa Riley” heckler who he had ejected from his gig in Manchester earlier this month, as he took to the stage once again

Comedian Peter Kay is still poking fun at the drama from his previous gig where he had disruptive fans tossed out – despite releasing an official statement about it previously.

During his ‘Better Late Than Never… Again!’ show in Manchester earlier this month, The Bolton-born funnyman, 51, didn’t hesitate to remove folks from the AO Arena who he felt were ruining the evening for others.

One of those kicked out was branded “Lisa Riley” by Kay – a dig at the ex-‘Emmerdale’ actress – which later became tabloid fodder and saw the ejected fan branding him as a “bully”. Despite Peter’s claim it wasn’t an insult, and Lisa Riley herself finding no harm in it, the fan said she felt humiliated by his comment.

Not skipping a beat, he brought up the kerfuffle at his recent Birmingham gig. Per the Mail Online report, he playfully started with: “Good evening, how are you? Can I just say thank you very, very much for coming tonight. I really do appreciate it. Thank you.”

He then reassured fans by saying: “Some of you have been waiting years for this and I hope you enjoy it, I really do. So I promise I won’t throw anyone out. I hope you have a good time. Well unless you start – I’m only kidding,” reports the Mirror.

The past events weren’t the only ones mentioned, according to fans. At one point, a microphone was passed to an audience member who revealed it was her fourth time at his show.

He didn’t shy away from the controversy

He responded with a joke: “You’re kidding? Thank god you don’t look like Lisa Riley.” After his initial jibe about ejecting a fan in Manchester, Peter discussed the incident on Good Morning Britain. “I didn’t realise it was an insult,” he admitted.

“She did look remarkably like Lisa Riley, I didn’t realise that was an insult.” Despite his insistence that no offence was intended, the woman involved, Myar Curran, accused the star of being a “bully”.

Speaking on the ITV show, Myar said: “I didn’t mean to cause any harm, I was just showing my love as he kicked someone out but he obviously didn’t like it.”

She added: “I feel like what I said was not abusive or aggressive – it wasn’t anti-social and I wasn’t drunk. I was just standing up chanting ‘we love you Peter, we do’. It’s just been a bit over the top, his reaction.”
