Tiger King star and former zookeeper Joe Exotic has tied the knot while he is in behind bars in the US, with fellow inmate Jorge Marquez becoming husband number six
Tiger King star Joe Exotic has got married in prison to a man close to 30 years younger than him.
The realty TV star and former zookeeper is in jail in the US after he was convicted of a murder-for-hire plot against rival Carole Baskin. But while behind bars he has met someone and fallen in love.
Joe previously introduced new love interest Jorge Marquez to his followers on social media – revealing their hefty age gap as he is 62 and Jorge is 33. He has now revealed that they have exchanged vows, with Jorge becoming his sixth husband.
The star – who is serving a 21-year prison sentence – shared his news on Instagram by uploading a mocked up snap of him and Jorge in tuxes and baseball caps and surrounded by pink flowers on their big day. “Never been more proud,” he captioned the shot. Joe, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado, added “Mi esposo“ which means ‘My husband’ in Spanish.
Last year the TV personality told his social media followers that he had met someone and shared his hope that they would get to walk down the aisle together. “Meet Jorge Marquez he is 33,” he wrote on X along with a shot of his fellow inmate.
“He is so amazing and is from Mexico,” he went on. “Now, the quest of getting married in prison and getting him asylum or we be leaving America when we both get out. Either way, I wish I would have met him long ago.”
At the weekend Joe, who battled prostate cancer, posted a tribute to his new hubby on Instagram. “He has gotten me through so much fighting cancer under these conditions,” he wrote.
“All I pray to God for is Trump will allow me to enjoy a little life outside with him before it’s too late. I love you Jorge you are my life.” He also tagged the US president in the post.
Urging fans to stay in line in the comments section, he added: “You know the rules. Be nice or get the boot.”
The former zoo keeper, who was the subject of 20320 Netflix documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, has previously been married five times. He was with Brian Rhyne in the 80s but Brian passed away, then he wed JC Hartpence.
JC was an events producer who helped Joe with his animal and magic show, but their relationship didn’t go the distance. In 2014 he married John Finlay and Travis Maldonado in an elaborate three-away ceremony.
But John later moved on and Travis died in 2017 in an accidental shooting. Joe’s most recent husband was Dillon Passage, who he was with from 2017 until 2023.
