Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty and Gordon Ramsay’s daughter Holly saw their Bath Abbey wedding reportedly descend into chaos as the bride was mobbed by photographers, with alleged confrontations between security and media
The wedding of Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay, daughter of celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, was marked by a flurry of activity as the bride found herself swarmed by photographers upon her arrival with her father.
The couple tied the knot at Bath Abbey today (December 27), following Peaty’s proposal last year.
Their star-studded guest list boasted names like David and Victoria Beckham, acclaimed chef Marcus Wareing, and TV host Dan Walker.
The pair’s wedding preparations have been making headlines recently, particularly due to a family dispute on Peaty’s side that led to all but one relative being left off the guest list for the ceremony.
Given the high-profile nature of the event and the celebrity attendees, it was no surprise that there was a significant media presence outside the abbey as Ramsay made her grand entrance, flanked by robust security.
However, while most of the press were stationed in a designated area at the front of the venue, there were reportedly some unsavoury incidents involving paparazzi photographers rushing from a back exit.
These photographers allegedly attempted to intercept Ramsay and her father as they arrived, leading to clashes with security staff outside the abbey.
As security personnel created a protective barrier around the Ramsays, a fracas reportedly broke out in a narrow corridor adjacent to the church.
The bride and Hell’s Kitchen star are believed to have found themselves caught up in the disturbance, reports the Mirror.
A source revealed to Hello! Magazine that events “descended into chaos”, with “Gordon and Holly, in her wedding dress, being jostled around just as she entered the church.”
Despite the mayhem, the Ramsays managed to break free with security assistance and made their way inside the abbey.
This marks the most recent development in what has become a wedding overshadowed by a family rift – allegedly stemming from a row over his mother Caroline being excluded from Ramsay’s hen party.
Consequently, Peaty’s sister Bethany was the sole family representative at the ceremony, where she served as a bridesmaid.
Speaking to the Daily Mail on the morning of the wedding, Caroline revealed: “I don’t think they understand how much they have hurt me; it’s as if they have cut my heart out.
“This is the first Christmas that I’ve not had my family together – my family is broken. Yes, I have my other grandchildren. Yes, I have my other children, but my family is split because of the goings on…because of the wedding.”
She added: “Me going would just cause even more of a storm and I don’t want to ruin his wedding day. I wanted to be there quietly to watch him get married, but that can’t happen now.
“I don’t know if they are too young or don’t value family as much as I have, but they don’t understand that family is the foundation to everything. Family is the foundation you can return to when things get rough. I’ve had that throughout my life.”
