Kirk Douglas' son Michael Douglas gets nothing in will as $61m given to charity

Hollywood legend Kirk Douglas left his entire $61million (£47million) fortune to charity and didn’t give a penny to son Michael Douglas.

The Spartacus actor died on February 5, aged 103.

He allegedly gave away $50million (£39million) to good causes, with the star leaving the money to charities before his passing.

The staggering amount of money was distributed through the Douglas Foundation, which aims to “help those who cannot otherwise help themselves”.

He reportedly left nothing to his actor son Michael Douglas, who’s net worth is estimated at a mind-boggling $300million (£232million).

Kirk starred in over 90 films, including 1960’s movie Spartacus.

Family members led the tributes with son Michael saying: “It is with tremendous sadness that my brothers and I announce that Kirk Douglas left us today at the age of 103.

“To the world he was a legend, an actor from the golden age of movies who lived well into his golden years….But to me and my brothers Joel and Peter he was simply Dad, to Catherine, a wonderful father-in-law, to his grandchildren and great grandchild their loving grandfather, and to his wife Anne, a wonderful husband.

“Kirk’s life was well-lived, and he leaves a legacy in film that will endure for generations to come, and a history as a renowned philanthropist who worked to aid the public and bring peace to the planet.

“Let me end with the words I told him on his last birthday and which will always remain true. Dad- I love you so much and I am so proud to be your son.”

Michael’s wife Catherine Zeta Jones shared a heartfelt statement saying: “To my darling Kirk, I shall love you for the rest of my life. I miss you already. Sleep tight.”
