Dog The Bounty Hunter opens up about being 'beaten' with a 'paddle' as a child

Dog The Bounty Hunter has claimed that he suffered from ‘beatings’ as a child, as his father reportedly used to hit him with a ‘paddle’ when he was young.

Duane Chapman, 67, opened up about his childhood in his autobiography You Can Run But You Can’t Hide.

He claimed he was subjected to brutal beatings form his father Wesley, known as Flash.

The media personality said: “Just thinking of the abuse I endured can make me cry.”

Telling of being beaten by his father, Duane explained: “As a young boy, I never knew that other kids didn’t get hit by their dads.

“I can’t recall any long stretch of time in my young life when my dad didn’t hit me. He used a special paddle he’d made from old flooring.

“Flash [his dad] whacked me on the back of my legs and bare a** wuntil I was black and blue and so sore I couldn’t take another hit.

“To this day, if I get sunburn anywhere on my body, it reminds me of my childhood and Flash’s beatings.”

In his moving admission, Duane continued to say that he blamed himself for the painful beatings he claimed to receive.

The bounty hunter said: “Because of my religious up bringing, I thought my dad was punishing me for being a terrible sinner.

“Until very recently, I never understood that none of his abuse was my fault. I just thought that was how all dads treated their sons, and yet I swore that I would never beat my kids.

“I wanted the Chapman family abuse cycle to die with Flash.”

The Dog The Bounty Hunter star circulated headlines recently after launching a heartfelt project in his late wife Beth’s honour.

He reunited with his daughter Cecily after eight months of ‘feuding’ to launch a clothing collection which was dedicated to his late wife Beth Chapman who sadly died last year.
