Sheeran shared the same message in a short video on his Instagram Story timeline, which included a brief clip of the singer sitting down with his guitar.

He didn’t offer up any other details, but officials at the U.K.’s Power Radio let slip the news on Twitter on Saturday, claiming the track would be titled “The Afterglow”, and released for airplay on Monday.

Power Radio let slip about Ed Sheeran’s new song ‘The Afterglow’.
This will be Sheeran’s new music after he last released an album, “No.6 Collaborations Project”, in July 2019. True to the title, the record featured a string of collaborations with artists including Justin Bieber, Chance The Rapper, Cardi B, Camila Cabello and British rapper Stormzy.
In December of the same year, the 29-year-old musician announced that he’s taking a break from making music. “Hello all. Gonna go on another break again,” he told his fans and followers on Instagram.
“The Divide era and tour changed my life in so many ways, but now it’s all over it’s time to go out and see some more of the world,” he explained. “I’ve been a bit non stop since 2017 so I’m just gonna take a breather to travel, write and read. I’ll be off all social media until it’s time to come back.”
Sheeran added, “To all my family and friends, see ya when I see ya – and to my fans, thank you for always being amazing, I promise to be back with some new music when the time is right and I’ve lived a little more to actually have something to write about.

Michael Stipe 'Thrilled' by Challenges of Composing Own Music for Solo Album

    WENN/Derrick Salters

Although he cannot play any instrument and really does not know what he was doing, the former R.E.M. frontman insists on writing his 18 pieces of music himself for the first time.

    Dec 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Rocker Michael Stipe is really challenging himself for his upcoming solo album by insisting on writing all of the music himself for the first time – even though he “can’t play an instrument”.
The former R.E.M. frontman previously relied on his bandmates to add the melodies and soundscapes to his lyrics, but he doesn’t want to lean on other musicians for his solo endeavour, so he’s tackling the whole process from scratch.
He told Uncut magazine: “What I have at the moment are 18 pieces of music that I’m working on. Some of them are much more complete than others – some have lyrics, others don’t.”
“I threw a bunch of barricades in my path by deciding to challenge myself with a lot of this music. I’ve never written music before, which means I’m coming from a completely different vantage point than I ever did with R.E.M.”

      See also…

“I’m writing for things that I’ve never had any experience with whatsoever. But that’s where I get excited.”
“I can’t play an instrument, so that makes composing for me that much more thrilling, because I really don’t know what I’m doing and I’m not afraid of stupid sounds. So banging around on synthesisers is, for me, an easy way to create.”
And the “Losing My Religion” hitmaker isn’t concerned about what others will think of his music.
He said: “I want something that’s gonna make me feel like I’m really living in the moment. At the age of 60, I don’t really want to do things that are easy. I can do whatever the f**k I want, in essence. I’m at that point in my life where I don’t really have to please anyone but myself.”

He has worked in luxury real estate for five years, overseeing sales of homes like Pierre Koenig’s Case Study No. 21 in Los Angeles, which served as the set of “Charmed.”Shortly after the release of Ms. Grande’s 2018 album, “Sweetener,” her ex-boyfriend, the rapper Mac Miller, died of an accidental overdose. He had collaborated with Ms. Grande on her hit song, “The Way,” in 2013.“I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will,” she said of Mr. Miller in a post on Instagram after his death. At the time of Mr. Miller’s death, she had been engaged to the comedian Pete Davidson for only a few months. Stanley Cowell, Jazz Pianist With a Wide Range, Dies at 79

He was also a composer, an educator and the founder of an important artist-run record label. The pianist and composer Stanley Cowell in performance at the Beacon Theater in New York in 2017. He was known for his adaptability and his vast command of the jazz language.Credit…Dia Dipasupil/Getty ImagesDec. 20, 2020, 3:06 p.m. ETStanley Cowell, a pianist, composer, record-label impresario and educator who brought a technician’s attention to detail and a theorist’s sophistication to his more than 50-year career as a jazz bandleader, died on Friday in Dover, Del. He was 79.Sylvia Potts Cowell, his wife, said that the cause of his death, at a hospital, was hypovolemic shock, the result of blood loss stemming from other health issues.Mr. Cowell’s playing epitomized the piano’s ability to consolidate generations of musical history into a unified expression, while extending various routes into the future. And when he needed to say more than the piano allowed, he expanded his palette. He was among the first jazz musicians to make prominent use of the kalimba, a thumb piano from southeastern Africa. In his later decades he worked often with a digital sound-design program, Kyma, that allowed him to alter the pitch and texture of an acoustic piano’s sound. In 1971, together with the trumpeter Charles Tolliver, Mr. Cowell founded Strata-East Records, a pioneering institution in jazz and the broader Black Arts Movement. It would release a steady run of pathbreaking music over the coming decade, becoming one of the most successful Black-run labels of its time.Mr. Cowell and Mr. Tolliver met in the late 1960s, as members of the drummer Max Roach’s ensemble. After recording a now-classic album with Roach, “Members, Don’t Git Weary,” in 1968, they formed a quartet called Music Inc., which released its debut LP, “The Ringer,” on Polydor in 1970. But Mr. Cowell and Mr. Tolliver found themselves unable to find a label that would pay what they considered a fair advance for their next album, at a time when jazz’s commercial appeal was fading.Inspired by the Black musicians’ collectives that had recently sprouted up in cities across the country, and by the artist-run Strata label in Detroit, Mr. Cowell and Mr. Tolliver founded Strata-East. Their second album together, “Music Inc.,” with the quartet fleshed out into a large ensemble, was the label’s first release.“The aesthetic ambition was to compose, play and extend the music of our great influences, mentors and innovators, while keeping the distinguishing features of the jazz tradition,” Mr. Cowell said in a 2015 interview for the Superfly Records website.Over the coming decade, Strata-East would release dozens of albums with a similar goal at heart, including some gemlike LPs by Mr. Cowell: “Musa: Ancestral Streams” (1974), a solo album of understated breadth; “Regeneration” (1975), an odyssey equally inspired by pop music and pan-Africanism; and a pair of singular albums with the Piano Choir, a group of seven pianists, “Handscapes 1” (1973) and “Handscapes 2” (1975).Mr. Cowell was also becoming one of New York’s most in-demand side musicians, known for his adaptability and his vast command of the jazz language. In the coming decade he would play an integral role in the Heath Brothers band and groups led by the saxophonists Arthur Blythe and Art Pepper and the vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson. After becoming a full-time music professor in the 1980s, Mr. Cowell eventually stepped back from public performances and recordings. His quartet’s appearance at the Village Vanguard in 2015 was his first weeklong engagement in New York in nearly two decades. Reviewing one of those shows for The New York Times, Ben Ratliff wrote, “Mr. Cowell can create impressive momentary events, but what’s best about him is his broad frame of reference and the general synthesis he is proposing.”Mr. Cowell leading a quartet at the Village Vanguard in New York in 2015. He had homes in Maryland and Delaware.Stanley Allen Cowell was born in Toledo, Ohio, on May 5, 1941, to Stanley Cowell and Willie Hazel (Lytle) Cowell, who kept a wide variety of music playing in the house at all times. The couple ran a series of businesses, including a motel that was among the only places in Toledo where touring Black musicians could stay. Many artists became friends of the family, including the stride piano master Art Tatum, himself a Toledo native.During a visit to the family home when Stanley was 6, Tatum played a version of the show tune “You Took Advantage of Me” that Mr. Cowell would never forget. When he recorded his first album as a leader in 1969, “Blues for the Viet Cong,” he included a dazzling stride rendition of “You Took Advantage of Me” alongside his own forward-charging originals. As a child, Mr. Cowell played and composed constantly. By the time he arrived at the Oberlin College Conservatory in Ohio at age 17, he had already written a number of pieces, including “Departure,” which would become the opening track on “Blues for the Viet Cong.” He studied for a time in Austria, then went on to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he received a graduate degree in classical piano while working six nights a week in a jazz trio.Mr. Cowell at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall in 2011.Credit…Ruby Washington/The New York TimesHe also fell in with the experimental improvisers and poets of the nearby Detroit Artists Workshop. That experience opened his mind to new artistic possibilities, while planting a seed of passion for artist-led organizing. His connections in Detroit led him to the saxophonist Marion Brown, who helped him land on his feet after moving to New York City in the mid-1960s. Mr. Brown brought the young pianist to his first recording session, in 1966, for the album “Three for Shepp.”Mr. Cowell recorded “Blues for the Viet Cong” with a trio in 1969, and followed it with “Brilliant Circles,” a sextet date. He went on to make over a dozen albums in the 1970s, ’80s and ’90s, including a run for the Steeplechase label while in his 40s and 50s that, while generally unsung, represents one of that era’s most consistently brilliant stretches of jazz recordings. In the 1980s, Mr. Cowell began to focus more heavily on his work as an educator — first at the City University of New York’s Lehman College and later at Rutgers. He expanded his inquiries into electronic instrumentation and orchestral composing, becoming adept at Kyma and teaching courses on electronic music. He composed a lengthy “Juneteenth Suite” for chorus and orchestra, inspired by the celebrations of Black Americans after the Emancipation Proclamation. After retiring from teaching in 2013, Mr. Cowell revved up his performing career again. He reconnected with his old cohort, including Mr. Tolliver and other former members of the Strata-East roster, touring under the name the Strata-East All Stars. And in 2015, Mr. Cowell released the album “Juneteenth,” featuring what he called “a solo piano reduction” of the suite. In an echo of his experiences almost 50 years earlier, he had been unable to find a record label willing to invest in recording the suite with a full orchestra. Eventually a small French label, Vision Fugitive, offered to put out the solo-piano version. He often noted the irony of his inability to find an American label for the record, which celebrates a suppressed legacy of American music. But he was proud to have put it out anyway, upholding his understanding of the musician’s role.“We are not just artists, we are citizens of our respective nations, and ultimately citizens of the world,” he told Superfly Records. “In our own personal ways, and when necessary, in unity with others, we should add our ‘fuel’ to the cleansing fire against injustice.”AdvertisementContinue reading the main story More

Asian Doll Says 'Friendship Ended' After Megan Thee Stallion Ditched Her for JT on Debut Album

    Instagram

The ‘Unfuccwitable’ femcee hints at the end of her friendship with the ‘Hot Summer Girl’ hitmaker after initially insisting they’re still cool despite her being snubbed by Meg on her debut album.

    Dec 21, 2020
AceShowbiz – Did Asian Doll end her friendship with Megan Thee Stallion? The female rapper also known as Asian Da Brat was seemingly hurt as she wrote a now-deleted tweet, “Friendship ended NEXT!” after revealing that Megan replaced her with JT of City Girls.
The drama started when Asian played for her online followers her unreleased verse on “Do It on the Tip”, a song off Megan’s debut album that features the City Girls. As Megan was called out for ditching Asian, the “Unfuccwitable” star was quick to set the record straight. “Me & Megan still friends idgaf about no song I did in my sleep,” she wrote.
But in a follow-up tweet, she admitted that, while she was cool with the “Hot Girl Summer” hitmaker, she was indeed upset at first. She confessed, “I was (mad) but ima Sagittarius we get mad then 10mins later WE DON’T GIVE A F**K BOUT NUNNADET SH*T. (sic)”
While Megan kept mum, JT posted a series of cryptic messages that fans believed to be a response to Asian Doll’s tweets. “A real friend is something you bi***es really don’t know nothing about!” she penned. “I been doing good but ima bout to start laying y’all attention h**s out & I’m coming with FACTS!!!!! Sympathetic a** h**s are really starting to grind on my gears! FR!”
JT added, “Like if you know it’s gone draw attention & cause commotion … why speak on it? Mind you lying! But GO OFF!”

While JT didn’t drop any names, Asian directly mention JT in her next tweet, insisting to keep a positive attitude as fans brought JT’s remarks to her attention. “If JT ain’t say my name then she wasn’t talking to me,” she tweeted before seemingly scolding fans for trying to pit her against the City Girls member, “Stop being messy cause what I said was between me & Megan!”
Asian went on, “This whole song getting out of hand! My intentions wasn’t bad when I played it I DON’T WANNA BE ON THE DELUXE I Don’t Wanna Put It Out I played it because ITS NEVER coming out! I don’t need to be a pick me b***h cause at the end of the day I’m having my way with this sh*t.”
“I was called & asked to do the song,” she explained why she sent her verse to Meg. “Some told me don’t do it anyways so I didn’t. Weeks later I was reminded to do it, so I DID It.”

Asian, who previously defended Megan against Tory Lanez, then seemingly called out Megan for being silent. “A lot of sh*t I don’t even deserve,” she wrote. “God knows my intentions but these b***es don’t make it no better. How you don’t defend a b***h that RUN to defend you [laughing crying emojis].”

Carrie Underwood's Son Shows Off His Song With Mom to Classmates

    Instagram

According to mom Carrie, the five-year-old Isaiah is so proud of his guest vocals on the ‘Little Drummer Boy’ revamp that he shows it off to his friends in school.

    Dec 20, 2020
AceShowbiz – Carrie Underwood’s five-year-old son is “so proud” he’s part of her first ever Christmas album, he’s playing the sweet song to all his school pals.
Isaiah, the singer’s boy with husband Mike Fisher, contributes guest vocals on “Little Drummer Boy”, and he couldn’t be more excited to be part of mum’s festive collection, titled “The Gift”.
“I had no idea what was going to happen (in the studio),” the “American Idol” winner told Kelly Clarkson on her daytime talk show of her kid’s big performance.
“He’s never been in that kind of situation before. I don’t think he’s even been like, in the studio with me ever before.”

In fact, the “Love Wins” hitmaker isn’t even sure Isaiah knows what his mother does for a living.
“I don’t know if he knows what I do at all,” she laughed, “but I could hear his voice on it (track) in my head when I was singing it in the studio and I just thought, ‘Ask him and see if he might want to (sing on it).’ ”
And she needn’t have worried if Isaiah would rise to the occasion because the star rated her child’s performance as “great.”
“He did such a great job,” she added, “and… he’s so proud of himself, he went to school and he said, ‘Hey, my song’s out. Wanna hear my song?’ And they were listening to it in his class.”
The album debuted at No. 8 on Billboard Hot 200 and hit the pinnacle on the Billboard Top Country Albums, marking Carrie’s eighth consecutive No. 1 album on the Country chart. It also reigned the Top Christian Albums and Top Holiday Albums.

AceShowbiz – Katy Perry surprised fans by dropping a new EP on Thursday (17Dec20).

The event won’t happen again until March 15, 2080, and will see the two planets the closest they’ve been together since 1226.
Although it doesn’t feature any new recordings, the six-song set includes an apt selection of tracks from across the star’s five studio albums, including “E.T.”, “Wide Awake”, and “Not the End of the World”.

“American Idol” judge Katy dropped her latest LP, “Smile”, earlier this year (20).
It’s a collection of songs that offered a glimpse into her personal journey to rediscover herself. “It’s been two-and-a-half years of trying to find my footing. It’s so easy for me to work, work, work and avoid, but I had to go on a mental and spiritual journey,” she said in an interview.
The singer took a break after the album release as she gave birth to her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom.
She has since been back to work, but she admitted it was hard to leave baby Daisy home. “It’s amazing. I’m so grateful for this opportunity and for this job, and to be able to continue to inspire other people to go after their dreams,” she said. “I mean, my life just feels very full and whole. And you know, it’s hard a little bit these first couple of days away and not being able to be there.”
