Rufus Wainwright to Extend Livestream Tour to Mid-March 2021

    Instagram

Having kept fans entertained during the coronavirus shutdown, the ‘Trouble in Paradise’ singer plans to kick off the new leg of his Rufus-Retro-Wainwright-Spective! 2021 on January 8.

    Dec 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Singer Rufus Wainwright is extending his virtual tour well into 2021 as he continues to revisit albums from his back catalogue for concert livestreams.
The musician has been keeping fans entertained during the coronavirus shutdown by performing his old releases in full and in chronological order from the comfort of his own home, and he plans to keep the weekly events going for a few more months.
He will kick off the new leg of his Rufus-Retro-Wainwright-Spective! 2021 on 8 January, when he will sing the first half of his 2007 album Release the Stars, and continue the tunes on 15 January.
“All Days are Nights: Songs for Lulu” will be performed in another pair of shows on 22 and 28 January, while he will follow that up with “Out of the Game” gigs on 5 and 12 February.
He will round out the trek with “Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets” on 19 February, “Rufus at the Movies” (Soundtrack Songs) on 28 February, and belt out tracks from “Unfollow the Rules”, his recent Grammy-nominated release, on 4 and 12 March.

He will be joined by guitarist Brian Green and keyboardist/pianist Jacob Mann for the upcoming shows, and host a special guest for each date.
“I did not expect to have so much fun redoing my first four albums with Brian and Jacob on guitar and piano in October and November,” Rufus shares in a statement.
“So many songs I had not performed live in decades as I always thought they needed a large band but they actually hold up quite well in this very intimate living room setting.”
“I wasn’t sure how fans would react and whether anyone would buy tickets. Well, my fans have and I am incredibly grateful for their support and for the opportunity to go all the way on this road to my last album.”
“I am so excited that ‘Unfollow the Rules’ was just nominated for a Grammy and I would love to actually end this retrospective as a Grammy winner,” he adds. “But even without I feel I have won a lot through this experience.”

Miley Cyrus 'Outgrown Blame' Despite Frustration Over Album Shipping Delay

    WENN/Avalon

The ‘Midnight Sky’ singer apologizes to her fans after noticing their disappointment that physical copies of her new album ‘Plastic Hearts’ are not available on its release date.

    Dec 1, 2020
AceShowbiz – Miley Cyrus was equally as disappointed as her fans over the shipping delay of “Plastic Hearts”. Although being left “frustrated” upon learning that the physical copies of her seventh studio album were not available for purchase at major retailers on its release date, the “Midnight Sky” singer insisted she managed to have “outgrown blame.”
The 28-year-old pop star made use of Twitter on Sunday, November 29 to release her thoughts on the album issues. “I’ve outgrown blame. It’s a waste of time and energy. This album was a labor of love and nothing can sabotage my admiration for the record my collaborators and I have created,” she tweeted.
The ex-wife of Liam Hemsworth began her statement by offering her apology to fans who were left disappointed on Black Friday. “My fans are everything to me and to know y’all are disappointed when going out to stores/calling/checking stock to be let down I am equally/if not more frustrated,” she acknowledged.

It was created BY ME personally at home making art FOR YOU. I want it in your hands!”

Miley’s response came after she noticed some disgruntled fans on Twitter. One complained, “My target shipment got delayed for dec 15… so it does count for first week sales x.” Another protested, “No stores within 35 minutes of me have any copies & I live in atlanta that’s insane… /:’.” A third added, “SAMEEE… idk if you’ve checked a barnes & nobles in atlanta that says there’s 1 on hold but if you have that was me.”

BTS Debuts at No. 1, and CDs Play a Major Role

The music industry has a hot new format, one that can generate huge sales, demonstrate fan loyalty and dominate the weekly charts. It’s called the compact disc. This week, the K-pop superstars BTS opened at No. 1 on the Billboard album chart for the fifth time with their latest release, “Be,” which had the equivalent of 242,000 sales in the United States, according to Nielsen Music. Of that total, 177,000 were for copies sold of the eight-song LP as a complete album. Two versions were available: a $9 digital download and a $51 “deluxe edition” CD that came with a photo book, seven postcards, a poster and other goodies.Last week, AC/DC topped the chart with a similar strategy, selling its latest CD, “Power Up,” in a $49 box that displayed the band’s logo in neon and played a guitar riff from a built-in speaker. The CD format has been dying a slow death for years. In 2019, just 52 million albums were sold on CD in the United States, down from a peak of 943 million in 2000, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. But some acts, like BTS, have found ways to move discs by super-serving fans with collectible packages, even as streaming remains the default format for most listeners. In its opening week, “Be” had 49 million streams. The loyalty and promotional power of BTS’s fans is so great that it was considered a major factor in the success of a $4 billion initial public offering this fall by Big Hit Entertainment, the South Korean management company behind the band. (Big Hit derives almost 90 percent of its revenue from BTS.)Megan Thee Stallion’s “Good News” opened at No. 2 with the equivalent of just over 100,000 sales, including 116 million streams. Last week, BTS and Megan Thee Stallion received their first Grammy nominations. BTS got one nod and Megan had four, including best new artist and record of the year for “Savage.”Ariana Grande’s “Positions” is in third place, while Pop Smoke’s “Shoot for the Stars Aim for the Moon” is No. 4; Future and Lil Uzi Vert’s “Pluto x Baby Pluto” fell three spots to No. 5 in its second week out.Taylor Swift’s “Folklore” rose 23 spots to No. 6, after the LP’s vinyl version went on sale in Target stores and her new film, “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” began streaming on Disney+. (Swift is up for six Grammy nominations, including album of the year.) More
