Taking part in the efforts to raise funds for bush fire relief across the nation, the ‘Xanadu’ singer joins the line-up, which include John Farnham and Queen’s Brian May, at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.
    Feb 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Olivia Newton-John didn’t think she’d ever sing in public again before signing up for the Fire Fight Australia gig.
The “Xanadu” singer hit the stage at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Sunday (February 16) night to perform a duet with John Farnham at the benefit, staged to raise funds for bush fire relief across the nation.
Speaking to Australia’s The Daily Telegraph newspaper before taking the stage, the 71-year-old confessed that until the charity gig came along, she wasn’t planning to perform live again.
“I haven’t done a show in two years and I wasn’t planning on doing any more, but for this event, and to sing with John, it’s just going to be a phenomenal day,” she said.
“Music can uplift you, can take you to a place of joy and the concert will show those people in regional places that we care about you and are doing what we can to raise funds for recovery.”

Olivia and John were also joined onstage by Queen star Brian May, while Farnham welcomed “Australia’s Got Talent” star Mitch Tambo to the stage during his set for a performance of his big hit “You’re the Voice”. Tambo sang the track in his indigenous Gamilaraay language.

Taking the stage at the basketball event, the ‘U.N.I.T.Y.’ rapper adds her salute to the late NBA legend when performing a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s ‘Love’s In Need of Love Today’.
    Feb 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Queen Latifah delivered a touching tribute to the late Kobe Bryant as she took the stage at the NBA (National Basketball Association) All-Star Weekend on Saturday, February 15 in Chicago, Illinois.
The former Los Angeles Lakers player was one of nine victims who lost their lives in a helicopter crash last month, alongside his teenage daughter Gianna.
While performing at the basketball event, 49-year-old Latifah gave a rendition of Stevie Wonder’s classic hit “Love’s In Need of Love Today”, and added some of her own words as a tribute to the star.
Her performance included the lines: “Give love a shot. When you do, say: ‘Kobe!’ Twenty-four hours, eight days a week, trophies!” The phrase “24 hours” makes reference to Kobe’s jersey number, 24.

Atlanta Hawks co-owner Grant Hill also gave a nod to Kobe and former NBA commission David Stern while introducing the hitmaker, telling the audience at United Center that, “Like Kobe Bryant, David believed the power of our game to change lives.”
“And while recognising the tremendous loss we feel in our hearts, we know they would want us to keep our heads up and continue to play on,” he continued. “So, tonight, as we celebrate the game we all love, we’ll reflect and rise together as one NBA family. Here to perform a song with that message in mind is my friend, the great Queen Latifah.”

The rapper’s debut album “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial” is once again ruling the weekly chart with 79,000 equivalent album units in the week ending February 12, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. This marks the album’s fourth nonconsecutive week atop the chart.

Chaka Khan Heavily Mocked Over National Anthem Performance at NBA All-Star Game

Not a few compare the ‘Masked Singer’ former contestant’s performance at the annual event to Fergie’s infamous rendition of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ at the same event.
    Feb 17, 2020
AceShowbiz – Being tapped as the National Anthem performer at a sports event is not an easy task, given the attention a singer gets from people all around the nation. If one fails to deliver a satisfying performance, they’ll most likely become the butt of the Internet joke, and that is what happening to Chaka Khan right now after her “The Star-Spangled Banner” rendition.
Singing the National Anthem at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game in Chicago on Sunday, February 16, the songstress did her very best to wow both the audience and viewers at home. She even showed off her high notes throughout the performance, but people weren’t feeling her set at all and started to roast her on social media.

“Man who the hell let Chaka Khan sing this National Anthem lmao,” one person wrote. “Me listening to Chaka Khan sing that anthem,” another posted, along with a viral meme of Billie Eilish at the 2020 Academy Awards. Someone else joked, “Man somebody said Chaka Khan sounded like uncle Bobby from the proud family…I hate it here.”
Not a few brought up Fergie’s (Stacy Ferguson) infamous National Anthem performance at the same event and compared who performed worst. “Chaka Khan really tried to outdo Fergi for the worst all star game performance,” an individual said of “The Masked Singer” former contestant, as another echoed, “Everyone who thought Fergie couldn’t be outdone hearing Chaka Khan just sing the national anthem.”
Chaka Khan has yet to respond to the criticism.
Prior to the National Anthem performance, Jennifer Hudson blessed people’s ears with her emotional Kobe Bryant tribute performance. Looking gorgeous in a long-sleeved purple dress, the “American Idol” alum delivered an impeccable a capella version of “For All We Know” as images of the late NBA star and his late daughter Gianna played on a screen behind her.

Unlike Chaka, J. Hud was showered with praises following her set.
