Alec Baldwin has defended his wife Hilaria over claims she has been pretending to be Spanish.
Rather than address the story itself, the 62-year-old actor instead warned his Instagram followers in a video he shared on the social media platform.
He told fans they need to “consider the source” and slated the allegations against his 36-year-old wife as simply “ridiculous”.
The controversy began when Hilaria revealed she was born in the city of Boston in the US, rather than the Spanish island of Majorca.
What’s more, the brunette beauty’s actual name is Hilary.
Backlash ensued and Hilaria was accused of not only faking her Spanish roots but also her accent.

Speaking to his 1.9million followers, Alec delivered a sombre message and warned his fans not to believe everything they see and read online.
Filming from what appeared to be his living room, neutrally decorated and filled with family photographs, Alec said: “You have to kind of hack your way through the debris of Twitter.
“Twitter is just a vast orchard of c**p.

“There’s things that have been said lately about people that I love, that I care about deeply, which are ridiculous.
“I mean, just ridiculous,” the actor repeated emphatically. “They’ve said it about people I love – false things. Untrue things.”

The star continued: “And as much as that hurts, the only thing I can do is talk to that half of the public or that portion of the public who understands what I mean when I say: consider the source.
“When you love somebody you want to defend them.”
Later appearing to add even more fuel to his comments, the Beetlejuice actor posted a cryptic picture of a quote that seemed to relate to the ongoing controversy.
“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes,” it read.
Alec’s video came after multiple videos surfaced of Hilaria speaking in a Spanish accent sourced by a Twitter thread.
In her most recent Instagram videos, the new mother speaks in an English accent.
