Craig David has capped a remarkable comeback in 2020 with an MBE.
The garage star has been named in the New Year Honour’s for services to music.
Craig first rose to fame in 2000 with the release of his debut album Born To Do It.
The track entered the album chart at number one to become the fastest-selling debut by a British male solo act to date.
But his follow-up albums failed to chart as well and he eventually moved to Miami as his career went into freefall.
But he won praise again with his comeback track in 2016 ‘Following My Intuition’ which went to number one.

Since then he has landed headline gigs at Brixton Academy and a slot on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage.
He has also secured regular radio slots and high-profile collaborations with artists including Bastille and AJ Tracey.

The writer and producer, behind hits including Line of Duty and Bodyguard, has been made an OBE in the New Year Honours for services to television drama.

He began a career in TV drama when he stumbled across an advert in the British Medical Journal from a production company interested in developing a TV medical drama.

The company was Tony Garnett’s World Productions and the drama went on to become Cardiac Arrest, starring Helen Baxendale and Andrew Lancel, which launched in 1994.
The series later topped a poll of UK medical professionals as the most realistic medical drama of all time.
Mercurio left medicine behind but his medical background has continued to influence his writing.
Line Of Duty, which began on the BBC in 2012, propelled Mercurio to household name status.
The series followed the investigations of police anti-corruption unit AC-12.
It has been a huge hit and attracted guest stars including Keeley Hawes, Thandie Newton and Stephen Graham.

Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has told how she is “still in shock” over being given an MBE.
Sally has played Sally Webster in the soap since 1986, having made her television debut a year earlier in an episode of police drama Juliet Bravo.
The 57-year-old said: “I am humbled, grateful and very proud to have received this honour. I am still in shock.
“I didn’t believe it was real when I first found out earlier this month that I was to be given an MBE. Keeping it a secret has been so difficult.
“During the 60th anniversary of Coronation Street I was reminded daily of my time on the show – the young girl in those scenes 35 years ago could only have dreamed of the incredible things that were going to happen in the coming years.
“I am so blessed to have met and worked with some wonderful people, not only on Coronation Street but also through the incredible charity Prevent Breast Cancer, their founder, Lester Barr, and their amazing fundraising team. This honour is as much for them as it is for me.
“I also want to thank my beautiful family, Tim, Phoebe, Sam and Hattie, for their constant love and support.”
Dynevor’s character arrived in Weatherfield on January 27 1986, when Kevin Webster, played by Michael Le Vell, drove past her in his van and accidentally splashed her while she was waiting for a bus.
She went on to have an on-off relationship and then marriage with Kevin, which has been one of her defining storylines.
She was later the victim of domestic violence at the hands of boyfriend Greg Kelly (Stephen Billington), and was also diagnosed with breast cancer.
Nina Wadia OBE

Former EastEnders star Nina Wadia received a phone call to tell her she had been given an OBE on this year’s list – and thought it was a prank.
Wadia, who found fame on acclaimed sketch show Goodness Gracious Me before landing a role on the BBC soap, has been recognised for services to entertainment and charity.
She was told the news on her 52nd birthday earlier this month but thought the official phone call was a friend winding her up.
She told the PA news agency: “Now it’s sort of sunk in, I genuinely am still finding it hard to believe.
“I’m very excited of course, I feel it’s a huge, huge honour that this has come my way.
“It’s made my last 30 years of my career, all the hard times, feel worthwhile.”

Lesley Manville has been made a CBE in the New Year Honours list for services to drama and charity.
The actress, 64, has enjoyed a stellar career on stage and screen.
One of her early roles was in what was then known as Emmerdale Farm, appearing in the ITV soap in the mid-1970s.
Since then she has starred in prestige theatre productions, British kitchen-sink dramas, popular TV shows and Hollywood blockbusters.
She also earned an Oscar nomination for 2017’s Phantom Thread.

The Devon-born cameraman, 71, counts The Shawshank Redemption, Fargo, 1917, A Beautiful Mind, Skyfall and Blade Runner 2049 among his best-known features.

Actress Sheila Hancock said she feels “an immense sense of duty” after becoming a dame in the New Year Honours.
The actress, 87, has been recognised for services to drama and charity and joked “I may be lowering the tone”.
Dame Sheila comes from a working class background has been part of British cultural life since the 1960s with roles on the stage and screen, told the PA news agency she was “very flattered” at the honour.
She said: “I’ve never felt myself this sort of person. It just doesn’t happen to people like me. I feel I may be lowering the tone. I feel slightly miscast, let’s put it that way.”
