Actress Betty Bobbitt has died aged 81, it has been confirmed.
The star, who is best known for starring in Crocodile Dundee and Prisoner: Cell Block H, died peacefully in her sleep after suffering a major stroke.
She starred alongside Paul Hogan in three of the Crocodile Dundee films after heading to Australia in 1962 for six months, but never returned to New York, where she was from.
Betty played Meg, a tourist, in Crocodile Dundee II, released in 1988, and played an “American Lady” in the 2001 release Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles.
This year, she made a cameo as a character called Betty in The Very Excellent Mr Dundee.

Before her death, she had spent almost a week in a palliative care hospital where she was monitored by medical staff.
Taking to social media, her son, Christopher Hill shared the devastating news penning: “Sadly, mum passed away this morning at 10:20am after five nights in hospital.
“She was peaceful and in no pain. Thank you for your support and apologies if I can’t respond to everyone but I will try. I will post more later.”

Sharing the shattering news, he said: “We are hugely devastated and struggling to come to terms with such a sudden event,
“My mum has been a legend, an inspiration, a mentor and icon for so many. She is comfortable and not in any pain that we can tell, but the prognosis is not good. She is not expected to recover.”

Betty played the role of Judy Bryant in Prisoner: Cell Block H from 1980 to 1985, becoming one of the show’s longest-serving characters.
After initially being offered a 13-week contract, she featured in 430 episodes of the hit show.
Just last year, she appeared in Neighbours and was reunited with Prisoner: Cell Block H co-star, Colette Mann.
Since the news of her death, fans have flocked to social media to share their condolences with Betty’s loved ones, with one fan saying: “If you were a fan of the original Prisoner Cell Block H, Betty Bobbitt the original Judy sadly passed away at 10:20am on November 30th she will be truly missed.”
A second added: “Rip Betty Bobbitt thank you for giving us Judy Bryant amongst other roles in your career, fly high.”
“Genuinely sad to hear of Betty Bobbitt’s passing. I think that singing harmonies for her as she played the piano and sang was a pretty high note all round for me,” said a third.
While a fourth tweeted: “Yet another one of the women of the groundbreaking show Prisoner gone – sad to hear Betty Bobbitt, best know as lesbian Judy Bryant has passed away.”
She is survived by husband Robin Hill and son Christopher.
