Lady Gaga breaks down in tears as Joe Biden beats Donald Trump in US election

Lady Gaga has filmed herself breaking down in tears after her friend Joe Biden was elected the 46th President of the United states.

The pop icon, who is a vocal supporter of the Democrat party and performed at rallies for Biden, logged into her official Instagram account before going live to her 44.9 million followers.

During her emotional speech, Gaga called for unity and told her supporters to come together to celebrate and be kind.

After telling her fans not to gloat about the win, she went on to describe the Donald Trump presidency as living in a state of terror and fear.

Speaking to the camera, Gaga said: “Hi everybody, I know other people are watching at home and looking at the fact Joe Biden has been elected President of the United States.

“I’m so happy. Thank you so much to every American for participating in this election.

“Thank you so much for all the people who worked to move this country for change.

“I am so excited, congratulations to Joe.

“We really really are so happy and we have a wonderful President now.”

Not stopping there, the emotional superstar added: “I hope you are all celebrating.

“I hope all the women know that there is a really exciting moment and change.

“I hope that peoples’ voices who have been oppressed, I hope you know that your voices were heard.

“I am just, I am honestly kind of speechless… this is a very very special day.”

Hitting out at the last four years, the Rain on Me songstress continued: “This is a day where a lot of people who have felt we were living in a state of terror and aggression all the time… that it’s over.

“You can feel warm now. I don’t know what I am on my phone talking to you.

“I just love the world so much and this is so good for the world.

“I feel like the world just got a big hug from God.

“Go home and hug your families and hug yourself, may we all stitch ourselves back together.

“Be safe and be peaceful. There is no need to gloat in anyone’s face that Joe won or be unkind.

“This is a time for healing and love .. the people have spoken.”

After hearing the news that CNN and all other major TV networks had called the election for Biden, Trump released a defiant statement.

The statement read: “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed.

“The simple fact is this election is far from over. Joe Biden has not been certified as the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states where our campaign has valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor. “

Meanwhile, Joe Biden said he is “honoured” America has “chosen me to lead our great country”.

The President elect added: “The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.”
