The Chsse fans confused as player says she doesn't know what sound a frog makes

The Chase viewers were left scratching their heads as the ITV quiz show returned to our screens on Wednesday.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four new contestants to the show for the third episode of the week.

The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Mark “The Beast” Labbett was in the hot seat tonight trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Roy, Jan, Steph and Zaki all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

The first player to take on the tough ITV quiz show was Roy but he failed to make it home and dry after getting caught by The Beast.

Contestant number two Jan got off to a great start and scored a sound £6,000 in the cash builder round.

However, things didn’t go quite to plan for the player as she didn’t manage to answer a single question correctly in the tense head-to-head round.

Jan admitted that she’d never heard of the word onomatopoeia despite previously telling host Bradley that she home-schooled her children.

Viewers at home were left scratching their heads as the contestant made the admission on the show.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “How can she not know onomatopoeia? I was taught that at Year 6 FFS!”

Another added: “She home-schooled her children and didn’t know what onomatopoeia is…”

A third person posted: “And she home-schooled her kids? They are doomed.”

While a fourth person wrote: “Never heard of onomatopoeia?”

It went from bad to worse for poor Jan as she went on to tell Bradley that she didn’t know “ribbit” was a sound made by frogs.

One fan tweeted: “Jan, what sort of TV are you watching all day? Didn’t know ‘ribbit’, didn’t know Bob Hope.”

A second person added: “Jesus, not knowing onomatopoeia is one thing, but not recognising ‘ribbit’?”

While a third person posted: “How do you not know what ‘ribbit’ is?”

“Doesn’t know what ‘ribbit’ is, and she home-schooled her children,” a fifth viewer moaned.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
