BRITs viewers in tears over Lewis Capaldi performance after Caroline Flack tribute

Tonight’s BRIT Awards kicked off with a tribute to Caroline Flack from host Jack Whitehall, but it was Lewis Capaldi’s performance of Someone You Loved that got viewers crying.

In the tribute, Jack said: “Before our next performance, I just wanted to add that over the weekend we learned the awful news that a member of the BRITs family, our friend, Caroline Flack, tragically passed away.

“She was a kind and vibrant person with an infectious sense of fun. She will be sorely missed.

“I’m sure I speak for everyone here when I say our thoughts are with her friends and family.”

Moments later, Lewis took to the stage to perform his track Someone You Loved, which he wrote about the passing of his grandmother.

And the emotional performance left viewers at home in tears.

One wrote: “Lump in throat and holding back the tears with that Jack Whitehall dedication to Caroline Flack and then they get Lewis Capaldi to sing Someone You Loved right after.”
