Actress Rachael Elizabeth is reportedly returning to Coronation Street , 12 years after she initially starred on the soap as police officer Abi Sharpe.
The soap star is, according to The Sun Online, returning as a completely new character – a mum who is set to clash with new mother Gemma Winter (Dolly Rose-Campbell) at her parent and baby group.
A source told the publication: “She’s already filmed several episodes and will be onscreen in early March.”
Rachael was first on Coronation Street in 2007 as Police Constable Abi Sharpe, a friend of former character Mel Morton, who was played by Emma Edmondson.
Abi left the soap after relocating to Stretford, after picking up an injury while trying to break up a fight which left her confined to desk work.

She featured in just 14 episodes during her nine months on the ITV soap, with her last appearance being September 12, 2008.
Rachael’s new character will reportedly clash with Gemma, who has been trying to adjust to life as a mum of four after giving birth ti quadruplets.
Gemma is convinced she’s a bad mum as she continues to struggle with them, though boyfriend Chesney (Sam Aston) tries to keep her chin up.

Recently, Gemma and Chesney learned that one of their babies, Aled, is deaf, which left Gemma terrified that he didn’t know they loved him.
It’s reported that Rachael’s new character will do nothing to help Gemma’s confidence, only making things worse instead.
And while the actress will be joining as a different character, she’s not the first person to do so.
In fact, Gemma’s mum Bernie, played by Jane Hazelgrove, played teenage character Sue Clayton 35 years ago.
Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on ITV
