This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes was quickly told off by his wife as he took a swipe at Loose Women presenter Janet Street-Porter’s age live on air.
Ruth cheekily asked Eamonn what he thought the combined total of the Loose Women’s ages would be as they prepared to link over to the women.
Eamonn replied: “I wouldn’t like to say, especially if Janet is in the line up.”
GMB’s Ranvir Singh, who was leading the show, quickly said: “We can hear you, you know.”
Eamonn quickly retracted the words, but Janet made it clear she wasn’t impressed as Eamonn joked: “What a line-up.”
She scolded Eamonn as she said: “I’m not happy about that age thing,” as Eamonn told her that he wouldn’t have said it if he had known she was on the show.
Janet replied: “You’re in the hole and you can’t dig yourself out.”
Eamonn said: “I should have said Gloria, shouldn’t I really?”
Janet hit back: “That’s even worse.”
Ruth turned to Eamonn and said “Stop now,” as the presenters swiftly moved on.
Meanwhile, Ruth also put her foot in it as she accidentally let slip an Emmerdale spoiler while talking to actor Dean Andrews on the show.
The host welcomed Dean and said: “The question is Dean, are you going to find out or is Will going to find out that she is having an affair?”
Dean quickly explained: “Well, I didn’t know that she was until you just said it.”
Ruth’s hands flew to her mouth as she joked: “Oops! Spoiler.”
Dean added: “No, I am now sitting here devastated.
“Well, I am sure like all good stories it will come out in the end.”
Just before the interview ended, Ruth then took the opportunity to apologise to the star.
She said: “I am so sorry to have let you know about Harriet, my bad.”
This Morning continues tomorrow at 10am on ITV.
