Daniel Radcliffe was catapulted to worldwide fame in 2000 as a shaggy-haired 11-year-old playing the wizard Harry Potter from J.K. Rowling’s novels.
After releasing eight hugely successful films that shattered the box offices worldwide, Daniel, 30, made the decision to go sober and give up alcohol.
Speaking on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Daniel claimed that towards the end of his Harry Potter career he felt he was not comfortable enough to remain sober.
He revealed: “I definitely think a lot of the drinking that happened towards the end of Potter, and for a little bit after it finished, it was panic and not knowing what to do next, and not being comfortable enough in who I was to remain sober.”

The actor went on to say that he found it “weird” that he had to give up the booze at a young age but added that he was “very, very happy” after making his decision.
He added: “But I will always be fascinated and frustrated by the question of: is this something that would have happened anyway or was this to do with Potter?
“I will never know. It runs in my family, generations back. Definitely not my mum and dad, I hasten to add.”

Nowadays, Daniel enjoys a sober life and is in good health, despite a fake news article circulating.
Last week, a fake article circulated on social media claiming that The Woman in Black star had contracted the deadly COVID-19 virus .
Addressing the rumours, he said: “I walked into the hair and make-up room on a play yesterday, and the make-up artist was like, ‘My niece has just texted me and told me you’ve got corona’.

“I think it was on a fake BBC account, but then enough people saw it… That is the Internet.”
Jokingly, he went on to say: “I think it’’ just because I look ill all the time, so you can believably say it about me. ‘Cause I’m very pale. But, you know, flattered they chose me.”
