Radio presenter Roman Kemp has revealed that Kate Garraway ‘s children are going through a “tough time” as they wait for their dad Derek Draper to get better.
Roman, 27, formed a close friendship with the Good Morning Britain star while the pair took part in I’m A Celebrity last year.
The Capital FM presenter surprised his pal Kate over the weekend by arriving to her son Billy’s birthday celebration in his jungle outfit.
Kate, 53, put on a brave face to throw Billy a small gathering in the garden on Saturday in a bid to cheer up the birthday boy as his dad remains in hospital with “minimum consciousness”.
Derek, 52, was admitted to hospital with coronavirus back in March, and though he no longer has the virus, it has wreaked havoc on his internal organs.

The former lobbyist is virus free and has emerged from his Covid-19 coma after 98 days in hospital.
Speaking to the Mirror, Roman said: “”It was really nice and lovely to see her and Bill and Darcey, they’re going through a tough time.
“They’ve got some great friends and family around them doing their bit, she’s doing incredible, she’s a superhero.
“I think that it’s a situation that no one can ever dream about being in but they’re getting through it and they’re doing a great job of it.
“All we can do is be there for her as much as possible.”

Roman, who brought along his famous dad Martin to the party, took part in a water fight in the back garden running around with Kate’s daughter Darcey, 14, as they soaked Billy and his pals.
Kate was delighted that Roman, Martin and Myleene Klass all attended to make her son’s birthday one to remember after the family’s heartbreaking last four months.
The ITV star has revealed that the family will celebrate Billy’s 11th birthday once again when Derek “gets better”.
Speaking on GMB this week, Kate said: “Because of the situation with his dad being in hospital and all of the challenges we’re facing with mixing at the moment, he’s (Billy) having four birthdays.

“The first one was with his friends on Saturday which was an absolute storm.
“Bill absolutely loved it, he was completely overwhelmed. He was emotional too of course.
“I said we’re going to do it all again when dad gets better.”
Kate returned to the GMB studio last week after four months off while her husband was battling the virus.
