Carmit Bachar is no stranger to being open about her personal life and struggles away from the spotlight and the Pussycat Dolls.
Now, the songstress has laid her heart out and opened up about the struggles of raising a mixed-race child in today’s society as well as explaining racism to her.
Bachar, 45, married director and editor Kevin Whitaker who she shares daughter Keela Rose with.
Keela, nine, is mixed-race and often chats to her famous parents about inequality in the world.
While chatting about the recent Black Lives Matter movements across the globe, the When I Grow Up hitmaker said: “It’s a very delicate and fragile moment in the world right now,
“But I think truths are being revealed and true colours are coming out,” she told Lapalme magazine.
Speaking about the recent protests in Los Angeles, she continued: “I wanted to go to the protests and show my daughter what people are standing up for, but her father was not comfortable with that.
“There was a fear there understandably because there was an unpredictability, even when the protests were peaceful.”
Tensions reached breaking point after George Floyd, an unarmed black man was killed by cops in Minneapolis, with people across the world calling for justice.
Bachar later admitted that both she and Kevin frequently sit their daughter down to discuss racism and other people’s views.
“There are levels to that, and she’s just eight-years-old so we’re taking it one day at a time.”

The family have been isolating at their Los Angeles home during the coronavirus pandemic, the red-headed beauty admitted to experiencing troubles with her mental health.
“In the beginning, it was tough to keep my composure, and recently I’ve experienced anxiety. I think it’s a cocktail for everything going on.”
Carmit reunited with her Pussycat Dolls bandmates in December 2019, performing their hit single React on The X Factor.

The group were due to hit the road for their upcoming reunion tour, but the plans were shattered as the world went into lockdown.
“I was quarantined in my hotel room in the UK terrified that they would close the borders, I was worried for myself, our fans and especially for my family at home,” she said.
The group are now set to hit the road in April 2021.
