Roxanne Pallett shares how she overcame three breakdowns after CBB punchgate

Roxanne Pallett has spoken about suffering from three mental breakdowns in 2018, the year in which she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother.

During her stint on the famous show, Roxanne became the public enemy following an infamous allegation.

The ex-Emmerdale actress, 37, shocked the nation when she claimed that Ryan Thomas had purposely punched her “like a boxer” in an attempt to hurt her.

However, footage reviewed by Celebrity Big Brother bosses at the time showed that Ryan had not maliciously hit Roxanne, during their play fight.

Shortly after Roxanne walked away from the Borehamwood house, Ryan went on to be crowned the winner of the series following a public outcry.

Two years after the incident, Roxanne has stated that she “fell apart three times in the space of three months” and was subsequently diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD].

Following her diagnosis, she was seen by a therapist and prescribed sedatives as she was watched around the clock in order to prevent her from taking her own life.

Speaking to The Sun about how she found a light at the end of the tunnel, Roxanne said: “I watched a lot of Rocky films after that. Those films saved me. Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky films are my Bible.

“Everybody finds something, whether it’s music or film or art or sport or the gym, that makes them feel better.

“For me it was therapy, then travel, Johnny Cash’s music and Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky films that got me through.”

Roxanne, who has since moved stateside to live with husband Jason Carrion, later said: “The therapy has helped heal that panic disorder, and so has stepping away from the limelight.”

Roxanne had broken down on Celebrity Ghost Hunt prior to her appearance on CBB after memories about her best friend’s suicide came flooding back after her pal’s name was spelt out during a session with a ouija board.

She also chose to step away from filming Bear Grylls’ show, The Island, in Panama after sleeping near a campfire triggered memories of a house fire which almost killed her family when she was a teen.

Speaking about her infamous CBB punch gate incident which seen 25,237 people file complaints to Ofcom, Roxanne went on to say: “I understand, with what the public was shown, why it confused and outraged them.

“They didn’t see the full picture or the whole context or my history, so I get it. Only God sees the whole story so only God can truly judge.”

While discussing her treatment following her three breakdowns which she says turned into a “breakthrough” the reborn Christian said: “At that point, I didn’t want to be here any more.

“But I don’t look back on the past, I learn from it and move forward. I’m in such a better place now.

“Therapy was incredible for me as it actually made me face things I hadn’t faced.”
