Strictly Come Dancing star Neil Jones has opened up about his split from his wife Katya – claiming they ended the relationship because they were “moving in different directions”.
Rumours had circulated that the Strictly professionals split after she was photographed kissing her celebrity dance partner Seann Walsh.
But Neil has shut down the rumours, explaining that the kiss scandal had nothing to do with the pair parting company last year.
He added that the couple “tried to make things work but couldn’t”.
Neil told The Sun: “We found that we’d grown apart like people do, so we were like, ‘OK, let’s go our separate ways’.

“We are lucky that we don’t have kids. It had nothing to do with what happened [with Seann]. We were moving in different directions but we are friends again now.
“Katya is a great girl and I’ve got nothing bad to say about her.”
He said he doesn’t hold anything against Katya and the situation with Seann has been dealt with.

“We’re human, we all see things in completely different ways. We don’t all react the same way,” he said.
Neil added that he had “never thought about quitting” the show after the incident.
The couple has not started their divorce and Neil says the coronavirus pandemic has slammed the brakes on the proceedings, adding that they are “not in any rush”.
Strictly is due to air this autumn for a new series but contestants will have to abide by strict social-distancing measures.
Neil reckons producers can make the show work despite social distancing restrictions.
He said that “dancing isn’t all about touch” and while doing his cha-cha he only “touched Katya” once, because they were “two-metres from each other” for most of the dance.
It was claimed this week that bosses at Strictly Come Dancing have reportedly turned down Cheryl for a place on the prestigious judging panel for the upcoming series, after Bruno Tonioli gave his blessing to her.
