Strictly star says HRVY will take part in show despite positive coronavirus test

HRVY will continue to take part in Strictly Come Dancing, despite testing positive for coronavirus this week, his co-star has confirmed.

Former Home Secretary Jacqui Smith, who is due to appear on the 2020 season of Strictly, appeared on today’s Good Morning Britain alongside broadcaster Iain Dale.

Presenters Kate Garraway and Adil Ray quizzed the 57-year-old about HRVY’s health, after news of his test results broke.

Breaking the news on Thursday, the 21-year-old influencer said: “Hi, wasn’t gonna worry anyone and say anything but now the story’s out, I have coronavirus, I’m all good, no symptoms, just isolating for the next 10 days.

“Already super bored so prepare yourselves for my Tik toks.”

Thankfully, former Labour politician Jacqui confirmed HRVY would return to the show after his self-isolation period.

GMB star Kate asked: “Covid-19 has hit the series, hasn’t it? Harvey Cantwell has tested positive.”

Jacqui replied: “First of all, HRVY is an absolute sweetie. I was in touch with him yesterday, he is completely fine, he’s got no symptoms.

“The reason why he knows he’s got Covid is because all of us are tested very regularly.”

Assuring viewers the Tik Tok star would partake in the upcoming series, she added: “Strictly is still going ahead.

“There are all sorts of extremely careful restrictions and conditions in place in order to enable the programme to happen.

“HRVY I’m sure will be back after his isolation period in time to take part in the competition.”

Jacqui finished: “All of us have sent our love to HRVY, and he’s obviously really peeved that he’s having to stay at home but he will be back.”

Later, speaking on Lorraine, ITV’s resident doctor Hilary Jones opened up about HRVY’s condition.

The health expert said: “He’s got to self isolate now for 10 days.”

Adding HRVY’s age is a factor in the threat of contagion, he said: “This is the age group of course where transmission is really high.”

Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV
