The Chase viewers confused as host Bradley Walsh accepts 'wrong answer'

The Chase returned to our screens on Saturday for a celebrity special of the ITV quiz show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed Susan Calman, Dermot Murnaghan, Perri Shakes-Drayton and Omid Djalili to the show.

The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Anne “The Governess” Hegerty was in the hot seat trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Susan, Dermot, Perri an Omid all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Governess in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Retired British track and field athlete Perri was the third person to take on The Governess this evening (October 10).

She scored a sound £5,000 in the cash builder round but viewers are convinced that Bradley accepted a wrong answer.

The host asked: “Which characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory come from Loompaland?”

Trying to think of the answer, Perri began singing the Oompa Loompa song from the iconic children’s movie.

As she sung the beginning of the song, Bradley quickly said she was correct but fans think she said “Oompa Oompa and not Oompa Loompa.’

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “She got the Oompa Loompa question wrong though. She said ‘Oompa Oompa’?”

Another added: “Oompah oompah… correct?”

A third posted: “That was the best answer ever with her singing Oompa Loompa.”

Perri made it back home and dry and joined Susan and Dermot in the final.

Omid unfortunately got caught by Anne and went home empty-handed despite his excellent performance.

The team scored an impressive 20 points in the final chase but it wasn’t enough to beat quizzer Anne.

The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
