The Chase star Mark Labbett, also known as The Beast, dropped an unexpected bombshell about the popular quiz show during tonight’s instalment which aired on ITV.
Eagle-eyed viewers of the television series are always looking for ways to find out how the Chasers manage to regularly win the competition.
Sunday’s celebrity edition of the show, which originally aired in 2019, saw quizzer Mark let slip a secret about the show as he shared his condolences for the losing team of famous faces.
Surprisingly, Mark even decided to share some advice with the contestants and revealed his team, which consists of Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty and Jenny Ryan, receive some serious training behind the scenes to help them achieve the desired result.
The genius quizzer explained: “I think what happened to you guys was you struggled to keep focused.
“That’s our one edge. It’s because you guys get stressed from the concentration.
“Whereas we’re trained to do this all the time. So there you go.”
Actor Dave Johns, vocal coach Carrie Grant, television star Naomi Wilkinson and radio presenter Christian O’Connell all stepped up to take their turns in answering questions against The Beast this afternoon.
Television host Christian failed to take his prize money home and Fame Academy star Carrie also lost her battle against the Chaser.
Actress Naomi succeeded in taking £2,000 back to the table, but things were really kicked up a notch when I, Daniel Blake star Dave decided to go all in and take the chaser’s higher offer of £68,000.
Naomi and host Bradley Walsh were taken-aback by the contestant’s decision, but despite the excitement, the game took a major u-turn.
Dave and Naomi struggled to bank up a host of correct answers meaning they only managed to score a total of 12 in the final chase.
The smug chaser was thrilled by the team’s loss and proceeded to sweep the duo under the table with a whopping 36 seconds remaining.
ITV viewers were left gutted that today’s celebrity team went home empty-handed.
One fan fumed: “Such a shame.”
Another ranted: “The Beast was on form today.”
A third penned: “Unlucky shame.”
The Chase airs weekdays on ITV at 5pm
