Tipping Point host Ben Shepard was unable to hide his amusement on Friday after contestant Tom made an epic error during the hit quiz show.
The cinema manager admitted he had no idea who was in the White House in 2000 before plumping for George Washington.
Washington was President of the United States from 1789 to 1797.
Looking bewildered, Ben turned to fellow contestant Anna to hear her thoughts before revealing the answer.
The Scottish gal replied: “I’ve been brushing up on my presidents but i think it would be that or Barak Obama.”
Looking confused, Ben replied: “What George Washington or Barak Obama?”
Nodding, Anna replied: “Yes.”
Trying to keep it together, Ben turned away smirking to ask the machine is the correct answer was George Washington.
After the lights turned red revealing the answer was incorrect, Ben revealed it was in fact Bill Clinton who was the President in the year 2000.
Twitter was quickly flooded with tweets from Tipping Point viewers.
Shocked, one fan raged: “Where they get these people from? George Washington… have mercy #tippingpoint.”
Another moaned: “Currently watching #tippingpoint and one of the questions was ‘who as US president on 1st January 2000’
“He said………. GEORGE WASHINGTON,” before adding a face palm emoji.
A third mocked: “I could understand getting tripped up thinking it was Bush and not Clinton but George Washington? #TippingPoint.”
Another savaged: “Good grief… how on earth did these two get on #tippingpoint.”
After the fourth round, both Tom and Anna were tied with a prize pot of £1350 each.
It was left to sudden death to decide who made it through to the final.
Ben said: “For a place in the final the duo were asked: “When a person has a natural talent for something they are said to take to it like which bird to water?”
Buzzing in instantly, Tom correctly replied “duck”.
Despite his awkward faile during his time on the show, Tom ended up walking away with £2550.
