Adele has said that she was “not shocked or fazed” by the reactions to her dramatic weight loss.
The 33-year-old star opened up to Oprah Winfrey in the hotly-anticipated interview that that aired in the US at 8:30pm EST on CBS.
Looking completely different to her glory days when she started out at just 19 years of age, the Rolling In The Deep singer explained that she had not set out to drop almost 7st and that she had always been body-positive – both before and after her transformation.
“My body has been objectified my entire career, I’m too big, I’m too small, I’m hot or I’m not,” she told Oprah Winfrey, during the exclusive interview.
“I never looked up to anyone because of their weight.
“I’m body positive then and I’m body positive now.
“But it’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies.”
She continued: “I feel bad if anyone feels horrible about themselves but that’s not my job. I’m trying to sort my own life out. I can’t have another worry.”
The svelte singer also revealed that she loves lifting weights in the gym. She revealed that at her strongest was deadlifting 160lbs, and explained that she even told her trainers that she wanted to win an Olympic medal.
“I’m actually an athlete, I’m not even boasting,” she said.
“I’m also a very good boxer, I’ve got a left hook that could kill you.
“If only at school I hadn’t discovered boys and someone had told me to go and do a bit more PE.”
This comes as fans gear up for Adele’s new album launch, which will drop this Friday (November 19).
Not only are fans getting ready to feel emotional over the new album, but on November 6 the singer appeared live at the London Palladium to record an ITV special in front of a star-studded audience.
