Funnyman Adrian Edmondson has secretly fantasised about being a killer, he claims.
Adrian admits he has tended to play violent roles such as punk psycho Vyvyan in The Young Ones and Eddie Hitler in Bottom.
His latest acting gig has seen him take on the role of an eccentric Nazi psychopath in a stage show.
Now, the Bradford, West Yorks, born has said he wonders if he is being typecast for showing a nasty streak.
Adrian, 64, said: “I worry about that!
“I was talking to someone about this last night, thinking there must be a small part of me that is a sadistic murderer in prospect.”

He went on to add: “Do we not all have a bit of sadistic murderer in us deep down?
“Have you never sat on the top deck of a bus late at night and thought, ‘I want to kill that person?’ No?”
Adrian is currently starring in the comedy-drama Once Upon a Time in Nazi Occupied Tunisia at the Almeida Theatre, based on the novel by Josh Azouz until September 18.
However, he has said that he wanted Vyvyan in The Young Ones to be even more repulsive, telling Radio 4’s Loose Ends the characters ended up being too “cuddly”.
Adrian starred in the popular BBC Two series The Young Ones as Vyvyan for two seasons between 1982 to 1984.
He recently revealed that he was left stunned when Joni Mitchell planted a kiss on his lips after they met in Los Angeles.
At the time of their meeting, Adrian was working with the indie band the Innocence Mission and heard a loud racket at the other end of the studio space.
Speaking on Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, he said: “Let’s face it, I’m not an A-list, I’m a B-list celeb and you don’t kind of mix in the super world.
“When you see one, you sort of get weirdly attracted – there’s a tractor beam happens, you don’t know when to let go of the looking. I was looking, and I noticed she was looking back at me!”
Discussing their chance encounter, he added: “But she wouldn’t let go of the gaze, so I couldn’t let go either, so, I’m looking at Joni Mitchell, she’s looking at me – she starts to walk.
“She’s quite a long way, 50 yards away, she starts to walk – stride, actually, it breaks into a run!”
Adrian went on to say: “I’m in this studio and Joni Mitchell is running across to me. I’m thinking, this is going badly wrong! I’ve broken some kind of law about looking and she’s come to sort of give me some stick.
“She got to me and she put her arms around me and hugged me really, really tightly. She let go a bit, she looked at me, and she kissed me on the lips.”
