Amanda Holden's husbands from Corrie icon ex to true love with record producer

Amanda Holden is known for her morning spot on Heart FM and glamorous Instagram posts online along with a number of key presenting roles across television too.

But how much do you know about her love life?

She’s currently married and has two children with Chris Hughes but is also known for having spent a time married to the Corrie star Les Dennis, with the relationship ending in a scandal that lead to “the darkest period” of her life.

Chris Hughes is a record producer who met Amanda in 2003 in Los Angeles, with the pair officially dating since 2004.

He prefers to stay out of the public eye, with Amanda having been put on the “naughty step” when she reveals too many private details about their personal life together.

In a 2016 interview she said: “Much to my poor husband’s dismay, I confess everything to some newspaper or other every week by accident or on Twitter, because I am chatty.

“I wear my heart on my sleeve and most people know everything about me. Obviously, there are things that are still personal that I wouldn’t broadcast but mostly this is it.”

While Chris has remained private, Amanda has spoken a number of times about him on her Heart FM show recounting a number of stories, including one where he almost choked to death on pasta with actor Thomas Haden Church coming to save him.

She said: “He was eating pasta he got a bit lodged in his throat, thought, ‘Oh OK I’ll have a bit of Diet Coke or whatever to swish it down.’

“It expanded and he was doing that British thing of carrying on and making eye contact with this American comedian. And he completely went blue, could not breathe.”

“Even in the darkest of hours, we will find something to laugh about and smile about.”

“Out of nowhere this man came and did the Heimlich manoeuvre on him and he threw up all over the table.

“He turned round and Chris saw Thomas Hayden Church. The guy was like, ‘Are you OK?’ Chris just goes, ‘Yeah, I loved you in Sideways.'”

While Chris and Amanda have suffered their personal hardships and losses, with a heartbreaking stillborn in 2011, the pair seem to be happy and Chris is supposedly quite a funny guy.

Speaking to The Sun, Amanda said: “I’m blessed having Chris as well because he’s such a laugh, he’s like a stand-up comedian.

“Even in the darkest of hours, we will find something to laugh about and smile about.”

But this isn’t the first time Amanda has walked down the aisle, as she also tied the knot with Corrie legend Les Dennis.

In 1995 Amanda married comedian Les, known for his role as Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street and a number of high profile stage production, with a return to Hairspray coming later this year.

In 2000 the pair split up for a short while after Amanda had an affair with Neil Morrissey, known for his work in sitcom Men Behaving Badly.

While they worked at trying to repair the marriage, they eventually separated permanently in 2002, with a divorce in 2003.

When speaking about her prior affair in 2013 she said: “I don’t believe women have affairs for no reason.

“If a woman has an affair, there is normally a problem in their marriage. Neil rightly or wrongly got loads of stick.

“I feel like it was my fault – I was the one who was married. I want to change the general perception of him, as he was very caring and very loving and very worried about me because I lost so much weight. He used to cook for me and look after me and babysit the dogs.”

Public perception on Amanda slowly began to turn as she took on a judging position within Britain’s Got Talent.

She spoke to The Mirror about how “liberating” it was to be on the show and have people move on from the past.

She said: “I mean, without dragging up my past, I think, at the time I was with Chris, we’d been together for something like five years, but people still kept going on about Les and Neil, and all the other stuff.

“So what was really nice was that anyone that might’ve had a preconceived idea of me could see who I really was and then really make their mind up.”
