BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt are always seen together on the big red sofa – but on Saturday’s episode of the popular morning show, Charlie was nowhere to be seen.
Jon Kay stood in for the veteran host alongside Naga.
Jon, who has filled in with Naga before stepped into the role with ease, however, there was no explanation as to where Charlie was.
Introducing Saturday’s instalment of the popular daytime programme, Jon, 51, chirpily said: “Hello there. Good morning, welcome to Breakfast with Naga Munchetty and Jon Kay.”
While Naga added: “Our headlines today. A weekend of preparations for England’s most important football game in more than half a century.
“Fans and players dare to dream.”
Jon continued: “Businesses gearing up for tomorrow’s Euros final with brisk trade leading up to the match.
“And a late start for many of us on Monday morning.
“Vaccinated NHS staff could be let off having to self-isolate after contact with someone with Covid in a bid to tackle staff shortages.
“The search is on for 10 teenagers to go on the trip of a lifetime to the Antarctic.”
Popular weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was also absent from the programme on Saturday.
Newcomer Owain Wyn Evans has been filling in on the programme in recent times, however, it was Louise Lear who took the weather reins on Saturday.
BBC Breakfast found itself at the centre of the headline this week as the BBC’s annual report on salaries was released.
It was revealed that veteran host Naga, 46, had been given a staggering 30 per cent pay rise.
Naga, who also has a BBC Radio 5 Live programme, has taken a huge pay bump from the £195,000 – £199,999 bracket up to £255,000 – £259,999.
Naga’s hefty pay rise is reportedly due to her new 5 Live gig, which she landed in January 2021 and has become hugely popular.
