Carol Vorderman, 60, beamed with pride as she told her social media following about her son’s special educational needs and how he overcame his challenges.
The former Countdown maths guru posted a series of snaps from over the years of Cameron, now 24, and opened up about his school days.
She penend: “A STORY OF CELEBRATION. My son Cameron was a happy toddler. Before and after he started school it became clear that he had severe special educational needs.
“No school would accept him. I was going to give up work to teach him but even I couldn’t teach a child with his needs.”
She followed up with a second post: “Cam went to a ‘special school’ for 5 yrs where they specialised in teaching children like him.
“Then he changed school to mainstream age 10 but still had additional specialist help. I knew he was super bright but that his development curve would be a different shape to ‘normal’.”
Carol, who is also a mother to daughter Katie, then wrote: “So Cam stuck with it, through endless bullying (you’re thick!!!), changed school, developed strategies to learn, worked hard and eventually got a FIRST CLASS DEGREE IN ANIMATION FROM @UWEBristol last summer. Now he has just received A MASTERS DEGREE FROM @dundeeuni”
In a video she explained: “He struggled, and when I say struggled, it was off the scale. I had to find him a special school, if you like.”
Carol then presented a hand written graph which explained the development curve for children with severe learning difficulties.
Carol then posted another video, in which she beamed as she said: “He received a first class honours degree in animation and now he’s received a Masters degree in animation and video effects.

“I couldn’t be more proud of him, I love him to bits but I’m also a very proud mum because I know just how much he’s struggled to get there.
She finished by saying: “I suppose the message really is, for all those with special educational needs, their curve is different. It sometimes takes just a little more time but they can get there in the end.”
The proud mum ended by then sharing photos of a stunning celebration cake for Cameron.
She wrote: “I’ve learned so much from Cameron. I’ve learned patience and kindness and perseverance and strategies and calm. He’s now THE MASTER Children with special needs just have a different development curve.”
