Coronation Street’s Millie Gibson couldn’t help but get emotional as she paid tribute to one of her closest co-stars, who is leaving the cobbles for pastures new.
Millie, who is best known for playing bad girl Kelly Neelan on the ITV soap, had understandably grown close to fellow actress Lucy Mizen during her own stint on the soap.
Millie admitted Lucy was “amazing” during her time on the soap.
Lucy played Kelly’s social worker Lou Breslin, who attempted to place her back with foster parents Imran and Toyah upon her release from prison.
But issues abounded, as Imran and Toyah had already been placed in charge of a new foster daughter, four-year-old Elsie, who couldn’t be placed with other children due to problems in her past.
Kelly agreed to move into supported accommodation instead – but, when she arrived, she found the word ‘murderer’ painted in scarlet letters on her wall.
And now it seems Lou won’t be back on the scene to help her out any time soon, as she has announced her departure from the cobbles.
Posting a sweet snap of she and Millie posing outside the iconic Rovers Return pub, Lucy wrote: “I can finally share this snap I took with this total beaut. What an actor. Absolute honour @milliegibbo.”
Millie could be seen wearing a black puffa coat with a fur trim collar, while Lucy rocked a blue overcoat of her own.
And Millie immediately commented on her co-star’s post, explaining that it was “amazing” to see her on-screen.
She wrote: “So amazing seeing you on screen! Lovely meeting you, hope to see you again! x”.
And Lucy responded: “Thank you! Lovely meeting you too!”
Fans immediately hopped into the comments section to share their appreciation for both actresses, as one wrote: “You were wonderful Lucy!!!”
Another piped up: “You were both amazing!”
“Well done @mrsmizen not watched Corrie in years, does this mean I have to watch it now haha?” someone else chimed in.
Coronation Street wasn’t Lucy’s first foray into the soap world, as she also made an appearance in Emmerdale in 2019 as Veronique, who appeared at Aaron and Robert’s surrogacy group.
And as for what’s next for poor Kelly, Coronation Street spoilers have revealed she could end up homeless as she is forced to bed down in a shop doorway after leaving her accommodation.
Lying to Aadi Alahan that she’s staying at her mum’s, Kelly forms an unlikely bond with fellow homeless man Stu, who helped bring killer Corey Brent to justice.
Coronation Street continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
