Danny Jones says Tom Fletcher is a ‘way better dancer’ than Harry Judd on Strictly

Danny Jones took a cheeky swipe at his McFly bandmate Harry Judd when he said Tom Fletcher is a “way better dancer” than him.

The pop star shared his thoughts on his fellow McFly pal Tom, who has been performing on this year’s series of Strictly with his professional dance partner Amy Dowden.

Danny is no stranger to sitting on a judging panel either, because he’s been one of the celebrity judges on The Voice Kids UK, alongside Will.I.Am and Spice Girls star Melanie C.

Chatting to Daily Star at the Pride of Britain awards, Danny revealed that he thinks Tom is a “natural dancer”, and that he’s doing “brilliantly” on the hit dancing show.

He said: “Tom is doing brilliant. I would say he is way better than Harry – he’s doing really well.”

Whether or not he was being tongue-in-cheek for the sake of bandmate banter remains up to interpretation.

McFly drummer Harry won the 2011 series of Strictly, after wowing the judges week by week with his professional dance partner Aliona Vilani.

Judd bagged the glitterball trophy in impressive fashion, with his dances scoring in the top half of the leaderboard each week.

Danny went on to share his praise for Tom and Amy, who he thinks is “great”.

He added: “He’s a natural isn’t he? He’s doing brilliantly. And Amy is great and you know, he’s gotta keep going.

“Got to keep getting through them rounds. I’m gonna support him all the way!”

Tom has been doing well in the competition despite missing out on rehearsals due to testing positive for Covid-19 after his first live show.

At the time, he said: “I’m obviously so gutted I’m not there and it’s been tough, but I’m so excited to watch everyone.

“Genuinely really excited, can’t wait to see everyone dance and as much as it hurts that I’m not there dancing with Amy, and I know Amy feels that too, I really want to enjoy watching everyone dance.”

Despite learning his routine days before his return via FaceTime, the pair powered through upon their return and are going strong.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, will broadcast on ITV on 4th November at 8pm.
