Veteran entertainer Paul Nicholas has revealed he wants to return from beyond the grave as EastEnders’ first ever ghost.
Speaking recently, the 76-year-old actor said that he is up for haunting Albert Square as his deceased character Gavin Sullivan.
The chilling villain caused big trouble in Walford during a year-long stint on the BBC One soap in 2015-16.
Speaking recently to BBC Radio London, Paul said: “I was looking through the papers and I found Gavin had been cremated.
“The wonderful thing is that Sharon threw the ashes in a bin.
“It’s perfect, I can reappear and go ‘ello princess’.
“So if they are listening I am ready and waiting.”
Gavin Sullivan arrived in Albert Square in 2015 in order to reconnect with his biological daughter, Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean).
He is also the ex-husband of Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) and left Walford a year after his arrival, having been arrested for killing his sister Margaret Midhurst (Jan Harvey) by pushing her out of a window.
While Gavin left the BBC One soap very much alive, it was revealed earlier this year that he had died off-screen.
The character’s death was confirmed in March when his ex Kathy received a phone call informing her of his passing.
Kathy later informed Sharon of Gavin’s death, who could be seen later throwing her estranged father’s ashes into a bin.
Before his character’s death on screen, Paul previously revealed his hopes of Gavin returning to the soap alive.
Confirming he would like to return as the villain, he told The Mirror in 2017: “Oh yeah, I’d go back.”
On his divisive role, Paul added: “It was hilarious really.
“Apparently I’d been living with [Kathy] in South Africa – though of course everyone believed her to be dead! Gavin was a real nasty piece of work. Horrid.
“He was controlling with Kathy, kidnapped her when she wouldn’t play ball, killed his sister and oh yes, turned out to be Sharon’s real dad!”
EastEnders airs on BBC One.
