The surviving members of Girls Aloud are reportedly planning a charity gig in honour of their late bandmate, Sarah Harding.
The singer tragically passed away from cancer earlier this month at the age of 39.
Before her death, Sarah was determined to get back on stage with Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts and Cheryl for a concert to celebrate the girl group’s 20th anniversary.
Her chemotherapy treatment initially delayed plans for the band to reunite on stage.
A tribute concert to raise money for vital causes is now reportedly in the works in Sarah’s memory, with the four remaining Girls Aloud stars set to appear in some capacity.
Describing plans for the gig as “bittersweet”, a source told The Sun: “When the time is right, they’d love to see a concert in Sarah’s memory.
“It would be hugely emotional for everyone involved, but it feels like a wonderful thing to do after everyone had hoped they might be able to do it together.
“They loved her energy and her zest for everything, so it would have to be done in that spirit.
“And if it could raise some money for charity too, then even better.”
The planned concert will reportedly be partially inspired by the Stand Up To Cancer gig which will reunite The Wanted in light of Tom Parker’s brain tumour diagnosis.
Sarah passed away after confirming she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in August last year.
Before her death, she tragically confirmed that delaying seeking treatment during the coronavirus pandemic saw the cancer spread from her breasts to her spine.
All of her Girls Aloud bandmates paid tribute to the star in the wake of her passing.
Nadine also recently shared another message for Sarah a week on from her tragic death.
Posting to Instagram, Nadine wrote: “Thinking of you all day everyday and trying to imagine how your new journey is going. Please feel free to come visit me anytime.”
She added: “Always an inspiration, always a shining light and always my friend!!”
In her own week-on tribute, Nicola revealed that she was experiencing “waves of disbelief and realisation” following Sarah’s death.
