Good Morning Britain viewers were left seething on Wednesday as Adil Ray and Susanna Reid chatted to football legend Paul Gascoigne.
The 53-year-old sporting star has recently taken part in the Italian version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and appeared on the ITV breakfast show to discuss his time on the gruelling television series.
Gazza kicked off the interview by showing off his Italian speaking skills, and went on to cheekily call host Susanna his “girlfriend”.
Comedian Adil was surprised to hear Gazza talking the language and pointed out that he’d “had a few tipples” since he played for S.S Lazio in 1992, where L’Isola dei Famosi or The Island of the Famous was also filmed.
Unhappy GMB viewers rushed took to their keyboards to slam the presenter’s “rude” comment as Gazza has previously opened up about his battle wth alcohol.
Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: “Adil Ray to Gazza: ‘You’ve had a few tipples since you were at Lazio’ (Just shows what a crass nasty guy he is)”
Another added: “Adil channelling his inner Partridge say Gazza has ‘had a few tipples since then’.”
A third person posted: “I really don’t think it’s okay for @adilray to say to someone who has had serious battles with drink problems, almost costing his life ‘and you’ve had a few tipples since then’. How rude.”
While a fourth person moaned: “Adil so far today. Mocking the Welsh Language, Asking an alcoholic if he’d had a few tipples? Errrr Excuse me @GMB are your PRODUCERS missing from the studio today?”
Speaking via a video link, Gazza showed off his Italian language, much to the surprise of Adil and Susanna.
Adil remarked: “Gazza, it’s amazing though. You were at Lazio three seasons so three years. I’m guessing thats where you picked it up.
“And to hold on to it, that’s some time ago, and you’ve had a few tipples since then as well, so to keep that in you well, thats impressive.”
Gazza replied: “When I played in Lazio all I knew was some football words and how to order a beer.”
Adil was forced to apologise to viewers during the interview after Gazza accidentally let slip a curse work live on air.
Speaking about an injury he received on the show, Gazza said: “I felt my shoulder go, and I thought sh*t, just pop the ball back in and I’ll be okay,” Paul explained as he described one of the trials he was set to compete in.”

Adil jumped in to say: “Before we carry on Gazza, I’m gonna apologise on your behalf. A bit of foul language we heard there, I know it was purely accidental on your part.”
“Oh, that’s nothing!” Paul interjected.
The presenter had to quickly say: “All right, easy! Easy, easy!”
As the conversation moved swiftly on to discuss Gazza’s legendary naked sunbathing, Susanna, 50, laughed: “We had to censor that as well!”
