Good Morning Britain hit with barrage of Ofcom complaints after Thomas Markle appearance

Good Morning Britain has been hit with a barrage of Ofcom complaints after Meghan Markle’s father Thomas appeared on the morning show.

55 complaints, the majority of which related to Thomas’ appearance on the show, were sent in to the broadcasting watchdog.

In the show, Thomas once again launched another blistering attack at his daughter Meghan.

He branded Prince Harry’s new tell-all book “shameful”, adding: “I think Harry has abandoned the Queen, the royal family, the British people and the Army. He’s abandoned them all.”

Thomas further claimed he was being “ghosted” by his daughter – and admitted he would continue to make TV appearances berating his daughter until she agrees to speak to him.

He explained: “I’ve made it quite clear until I hear from her until she does speak to me that I’ll continue to do this.

“I will do a show for at least a month if I can get it through and eventually sooner or later she should start talking to me – this is way too childish. This is kind of silly. It’s time to talk with each other. We’re family.”

Thomas further claimed he was afraid of being branded a “stalker” by the Duchy of Sussex in his continued attempts to contact his daughter.

He also issued a message to Harry and Meghan’s children, Archie and Lilibet, commenting: “My message for the kids is that they have two loving families and their great-grandmother is the Queen of England and that’s important for them to know.

“It’s important for them to know that they have two families and eventually they’re going to grow up and they’re going to want to know more about them.”

The Markle patriarch admitted he had previously considered taking legal action against his daughter in order to secure visitation rights to the children.

The move to appear on the show sparked fury from GMB viewers, and a flurry of fans took to social media at the time to protest his segment.

One wrote: “There’s something quite tone deaf about Thomas Markle. Surely you’d know that your daughter has cut you off because you keep bashing her to the press? How can you be that unaware?”

Another added: “I have made a complaint and will be complaining directly to @ITV @GMB also. Thomas Markle needs to stop being invited on British telly to BULLY his daughter who does not live here.”

While a third echoed: “I stopped speaking to my biological dad as a teenager, he left when I was 1, I got fed up of trying to see him.

“He turned up after I had my kids, there was no way I was putting my kids through the same, I’m not sure what he’s trying to prove he’s begging airtime. It’s not the way.”

However, someone else clearly felt for Thomas’ plight, as they penned: “#GMB Poor Thomas Markle, look at & listen to him – he’s old & ill & probably will be dead soon. For crying out loud – let him see his grandkids.”
