Hollyoaks tease John Paul's engagement and Martine's cancer hell in new trailer

Hollyoaks have dropped their brand new spring trailer and fans of the Channel 4 soap are in for a bumpy ride over the next few months.

The teaser clip, which was released on Tuesday, reveals an engagement, a vendetta, a hit and run and a scandalous affair.

John Paul McQueen declares that he’s happier than he’s ever been and plans to move in with boyfriend PC George Kiss, and even announces that they’re engaged.

However, he’s viscously attacked once again by the manipulative copper behind closed doors and John Paul turns to drink.

Will his friends and family be able to convince him to escape his relationship before it’s too late?

Elsewhere, Martine Deveraux (Kellé Bryan) and Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood) made have a happy ending as the trailer teases a kiss between the pair.

Things are not happy for long though as she tells her children Celeste (Andrea Ali) and Toby Faroe (Bobby Gordon) that she’s found a lump.

Also, Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) has been on the straight and narrow for some time, but her jealousy of her ex-boyfriend, Brody Hudson (Adam Woodward)’s new relationship with Summer Ranger (Rhiannon Clements) reaches new heights as she plots to break them up at any cost.

The rivalry between the feisty females takes a deadly turn as it’s hinted that Sienna may have poisoned Summer.

Meanwhile, Mercedes McQueen’s (Jennifer Metcalfe) marriage to Sylver (David Tag) is on the rocks as her step-daughter Cher (Bethannie Hare) continues to troll her online and make cheating accusations.

The landlady turns to Cher’s boyfriend Romeo Nightingale (Owen Warner) for support, and the trailer teases the pair may have slept together.

Romeo confronts Cher after discovering she’s the troll but will he tell Mercedes the truth?

It looks like Juliet Nightingale (Niamh Blackshaw) and Peri Lomax (Ruby O’Donnell) can finally be together following Juliet’s release from prison, but the teaser clip teases new village bad boy Fergus Collins (Robert Beck) watching the lovebirds in their bedroom on CCTV footage, are they in danger?
