I'm A Celebrity fans gobsmacked as familiar face returns after Naughty Boy axe

It just hasn’t been the same in the I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! camp since music producer Naughty Boy was axed from the programme on Wednesday.

Though he divided opinion with fans, plenty were sad to see him leave the castle after an iconic run – and so were glad when a familiar face made their return to the camp on Friday’s episode.

David Ginola was just about recovering from his hangover from the cast’s antics at the Castle Inn on Thursday night when he began chatting to Sunny – the robin Naughty Boy had nicknamed after the bird convinced him to stay in the castle during his period of doubt.

Speaking in the Telegraph, David had some emotional words to say about Sunny’s return, as he said: “He stayed for quite a while and he was turning around me. He has a little tear in his eye the robin, he say, ‘Where is my Naughty Boy?’”

And fans couldn’t get enough of the adorable exchange, as one posted on Twitter: “Aww Sunny getting another cameo!”

The official Gwrych Castle account tweeted: “We think @NaughtyBoyMusic will have to come back when we re-open to have a reunion with Sunny!”

As someone else joked: “Sunny the robin is back to speak his mind on what he really thought of Naughty Boy!”

Other fans were simply swooning at the cute baby voice David put on for Sunny, with one squealing: “David talking to Sunny the robin!” with a string of heart emojis.

“David talking about Sunny and doing that voice!” another swooned.

As someone else giggled: “Aww David and Sunny the robin!”

Taking to Instagram after his axe, Naughty Boy penned a poignant message of his own to fans who insisted he had been “robbed of his rightful crown of the castle”.

Naughty wrote in response: “The love has been sooo real I am very grateful, thank you to everyone. If you know you know!”

It comes after fans slammed the criticism Naughty Boy got, with some even threatening to report the ‘racism’ he encountered to Ofcom.

One fan wrote on Twitter: “I rang Ofcom today to report the hideous racism that Naughty Boy is facing, both within the camp and on social media. I stand with Naughty Boy.”

And someone else agreed: “The criticism Naughty Boy gets is classic micro-aggressive racism, he says nothing wrong yet people gaslight him into being the villain.

“Everyone wants to talk about mental health until their faves are being bullies. I hate what this show has become.”

However, others quickly pointed out that it was Naughty Boy’s own attitude to his fellow campers, as one explained: “It’s the way Naughty Boy talks to people!”

“The way he acted with the whole rice situation was childish, he went to sleep and refused to get up and eat that’s why people don’t believe that he’s being mature,” someone else followed up.

I’m A Celeb continues tomorrow at 9pm on ITV.
