I'm A Celeb's Emily Atack 'gets nervous' on live TV over fears of getting 'cancelled'

Emily Atack has admitted that she gets “really nervous” appearing on live television as she’s scared of getting cancelled.

The 31-year-old Celebrity Juice captain said that she’s frightened of accidentally saying the wrong thing in front of the cameras, which could lead to her being faced with a public lashing.

Speaking to BBC’s The One Show on Monday night (27 September), host Alex Scott revealed that Emily had told her backstage that she gets nervous about live TV.

Alex said: “Do you know what I find super fascinating, because people think of a comedian, you’re up on stage, that you’re super-confident but you were just saying before that you get super nervous.”

Emily replied: “I get really [nervous] on live TV because it’s that thing of like going ‘don’t say anything naughty, don’t say anything naughty, don’t get cancelled, don’t get cancelled’.

“And I’m very naughty so yeah, it’s that thing of going… you don’t wanna say the wrong thing.

“We’re all kind of under the microscope now, aren’t we?”

Emily had appeared on the BBC chat show to talk about her upcoming tour, Emily Atack Has Left The Group, which had to be rescheduled to this September of year due to the pandemic.

Speaking about the show, Emily revealed that she wrote new material, meaning that the concept of the tour has changed as a result of the lockdown.

She said: “It’s an entirely new show.

“The first show was called Can’t Wait To Cancel, and it was about the joy of cancelling plans when you get into your thirties, and now all we want to do again is go out with our mates and drink and have fun so I’m just doing that again.”

She went on: “It’s called Emily Atack Has Left The Group, and originally it was about leaving WhatsApp groups and cancelling plans and all of that but it’s got a deeper meaning behind it now.

“It’s about kind of finding your identity in a really confusing world that’s changing all the time and you know, we’re scared of saying the wrong thing, what it means to be a good feminist.

“So yeah, it’s a bit deeper. A bit more mature.”

The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
