Inside Corrie James Bailey star Nathan Graham's life from real age to Ant and Dec link

Coronation Street star Nathan Graham has been at the centre of a big racial profiling storyline and his character also faced an injury on the soap.

The actor portrays footballer James Bailey on the ITV soap, who was recently injured by police officer PC Brody (Daniel Jillings) after he and his brother Michael (Ryan Russell) were pulled over in the middle of test-driving a sports car.

James hasn’t had an easy time since he arrived in Weatherfield in 2019.

As well as facing tensions with his dad over his sexuality, he was also outed online and bullied by a particularly nasty teammate as a result.

So, what does Nathan’s life away from Weatherfield look like?

Surprising age

Coronation Street viewers will be surprised to know that Nathan is a lot older than his character.

The actor celebrates his 31st birthday on December 5, making him 10 years older than his onscreen alter-ego.

He is also older than his Corrie co-star Ryan Russell, who plays James’ older brother Michael.

Asked in an appearance on This Morning in 2019 whether his youthful looks meant he got asked for ID a lot, James replied: “Sometimes yeah, maybe now I might not hopefully.”

Doting uncle

As well as a soap star, Nathan is a doting uncle to his one-year-old nephew, Elijah.

Back in April, the Corrie actor posted a touching Instagram tribute to celebrate the adorable tot’s first birthday.

He wrote: “Happy 1st Birthday Elijah.

“Being your uncle is the best thing in the world, you bring me so much joy! I love you with all my heart.”

Jetsetter

Before landing his Corrie role, Nathan enjoyed a glamorous jetsetter lifestyle.

Over recent years, the star has enjoyed a number of holidays abroad and has kept them well documented on his Instagram page.

These include trips to Cancun in Mexico and Venice in Italy, where the actor enjoyed a scenic Gondola ride.

Back in 2017, Nathan also enjoyed holidays to Brooklyn in New York City as well as Paris in France, where he visited famous landmarks such as the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.

In 2016, the actor visited Austria and in 2015, he holidayed in Antigua.

Saturday Night Takeaway debut

Before landing his dream Corrie role, Nathan had a successful career onstage.

The budding actor has enjoyed stints in West End musicals including Dreamgirls and Miss Saigon and in 2015, he made his debut television appearance.

Nathan actually appeared as a back-up dancer of Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, proudly posting a screengrab of himself standing behind Ant McPartlin to his Instagram page.

It may be a proud moment for Nathan and he’s certainly come a long way since.
