James Bond and Shaft actor Tommy Lane has died at age 83 after battling a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
According to Variety, his sad passing was confirmed by his daughter Kamala Lane.
The publication explains that the star died at the Florida Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale following a battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Tommy Lane leaves behind his wife, Raquel Bastias-Lane, seven children, a stepson along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, explains The Hollywood Reporter.
Lane is best known for appearing in the 1973 Bond classic Live and Let Die – playing the role of Adam, who chases Bond in a speedboat.
Starring alongside Sir Roger Moore, Lane famously told him in the film: “You made one mistake back on that island, Bond.
“You took something that didn’t belong to you. And you took it from a friend of Mr. Big’s. That kind of mistake is tough to bounce back from.”
He also worked on films such as 1970’s Cotton Comes to Harlem, 1983’s Blue Skies again and the 1971 action movie Shaft.
In the thrilling Gordon Parks film Shaft, he plays the role of Leroy – who suffers a gruesome death as he plummets out of John Shaft’s Time Square office window after a fight with Richard Roundtree’s private detective.
Aside from action films, Lane’s first ever TV debut arose when he appeared in the NBC show Flipper in 1964 before turning to the movie world.
In 1983, he returned to TV appearing in the show Simon & Simon.
The Miami-born actor was boasted musical talents and was a jazz musician who played trumpet and flugelhorn at New York City’s Blue Note during the 80s.
