This Morning fans outraged as Holly and Phillip ruin beloved Christmas tradition

This Morning fans were less than impressed on the first day in the countdown to Christmas as the beloved fans deliberately ruined the annual Christmas game.

Holly Willoughby and her co-host Phillip Schofield joined viewers on the popular ITV daytime show on Wednesday and fans couldn’t wait for the favoured TV game.

For those unfamiliar with the classic festive challenge, the game is centred around the Wham! hit Last Christmas which has one big rule.

Whamageddon, as it’s known, is played from the first of December right up to Christmas Eve and tasks players with avoiding the classic George Michael track throughout the month.

Whether it be on TV, radio, streaming or while out and about, the moment they hear the song the player is eliminated from the game.

Only those who have managed avoided the classic Christmas song by December 24 are successful, so you can imagine why fans were left up in arms within the first few minutes of the show airing.

Deliberately ruining the game for those tuning in on the first day of the month, the crew aired the popular track before mocking Holly and Phil’s latest challenge.

In order to stay in the game, many viewers rushed to mute their TV’s at the first mention of the band just in case.

But many fans were not so lucky as they fell victim to the TV prank while Holly and Phil discussed the game on air.

Holly and Phil joked that they would be playing along with viewers at home as Phil declared: “We’re going to play it”.

Suddenly the song began to blare through the studio, as the presenter shouted that he’d meant they would be playing the game not the song.

The pretend misunderstanding left the crew in hysterics as the pair laughed it off after they had been immediately eliminated from the game.

But some viewers failed to see the funny side of the staged blunder as they took to Twitter to share their frustrations online.

A third fumed: “#ThisMorning just ruining it for everyone who joins in on #Whamageddon.”

Another echoed this, tweeting: “I have one for Deidree … poxy #thismorning playing Wham on the FIRST DAY!!! #Whamhalla What website do I need??? #fuming.”
