Katie Price to revive singing career at summer festival alongside Cheryl

Former glamour model Katie Price has opted to give her singing career another go as she signed up to perform at London’s Mighty Hoopla festival this summer.

She will star alongside established artists including Cheryl, La Roux and Raye.

Other acts include Atomic Kitten, rapper Eve and Whigfield.

The 41-year-old has tried to make it as a singer on numerous occasions.

She released a single called Free to Love Again in July 2010.

Katie was also the runner-up in the selection contest for Eurovision in 2005, where she sang Not Just Anybody.

The curvy bombshell has even performed alongside her former husband Peter Andre.

The pair released an album together in 2006 which was certified Gold in the UK.

However, it suffered poor sales and the duo were dropped from the Sony BMG label.

It rose to fame later due to some hilarious reviews posted on Amazon, which claimed the album cured listeners of various medical conditions including constipation.

“I’m not a singer, this is just something that I’m doing for fun,” she said when her single was released.

“It’s not like I’m worried about getting a chart position or number one, this is purely for fun. Whether people like it or not, I’m doing it.”

Katie told FUBAR Radio: “When I say I want to be on The Masked Singer, I want to be on The Voice, then everyone takes the mickey out of me saying, ‘oh shut up Kate. You really think you can sing?’

“I’m like, ‘yeah, I can actually’. And they’re like, ‘well, I dunno what you hear.’”

Katie has bought herself a recording studio to make YouTube videos, and fully intends to embrace her singing voice.

“I’m going to do [my] karaoke versions, acoustic versions of the songs I want to do.

“If you don’t want to hear it, don’t tap on and listen!” she remarked.

The Mighty Hoopla festival takes place each summer at London’s Brockwell Park, and regularly sees around 25,000 visitors.

It calls itself “the UK’s best pop festival” and features more than 200 performers across seven stages.

Festival bosses have decided to push ahead with the gig “following vaccine roll-out timing reviews and rapid testing” to ensure the Mighty Hoopla is “the way it should be – all singing, all dancing”.

They have also offered all NHS staff free tickets to say thank you for their efforts during the coronavirus crisis.

The Mighty Hoopla festival is set to take place in September.
