Kerry Katona has opened up about a dark time when she was still using drugs in a candid new interview..
The Atomic Kitten star, who got into a fiery row with Tessa Hartmann on Good Morning Britain this week, shared she was “brought back to life by angels” after a drug binge almost cost her her life.
The mum of five bravely opened up about her past drug issues in a bid to offer support to those who are struggling with the same issues Kerry once battled.
Reality TV star Kerry, has been sober for 13 years, but she hasn’t been able to forget about the dark time in her life.
In the tell-all interview with The Sun, Kerry, 40, explained how her addiction very nearly once killed her as she battled suicidal thoughts at her lowest point.
Kerry tried to numb her dark thoughts with drugs but her bingeing episodes would lead her to suffer extreme fits where she would convulse and foam from the mouth.
Opening up, Kerry shared: “I think the suicidal thoughts were my lowest, it felt very selfish of me being a mother. I thought I never wanted to do that to my kids… But I went about it in a different way, I went about it if I do loads of drugs then I’ll have fits.
“I remember I’d have these fits, I’d froth, my eyes rolled back, I think I just completely died but something brought me back.”
“It was the most wonderful feeling; it sounds so weird but it was like being surrounded by angels bringing me back. It was the most wonderful feeling ever, I kept trying to do it because it was the only time I really felt loved but that was a really selfish thing because my kids could not have a mum now.”
Kerry Katona went on to share how during her darkest time, cocaine was her “best friend”.
Thankfully Kerry was able to turn her life around and said she is grateful for the dark times as it’s made her the person she is today.
